It seems that the good is always paired with the bad. Just when things are really dark, something great happens as well. Or when it looks like something bad has happened, there is a bright side. As the saying goes, when God shuts a door, he opens a window.
Take, for example, getting older. We don't hear as well as we used to. But that's OK; we know what our spouse is saying anyway, from several decades of listening, and so we don't really need to hear. We don't see as well, either; but then again, we can overlook each others' flaws. We get tired more easily, but we don't have babies who keep us up late anymore.
