Organizers say the fifth annual Firelands Idol competition features more talent than ever. Judge for yourself: We've compiled excerpts from some of the tryouts.

There are 48 contestants in four categories: Kiddie Idol (ages 6 to 12), Teen Idol (13 to 19), Junior Idol, (20 to 49) and Senior Idol (50 and older).

The semifinal event will take place at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in the Edison High School Little Theatre, Milan.
