 Vernon H. Arnold, 86, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 in the Stein Hospice Inpatient Center. He was born July 18, 1925 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Hugh S. and Adelene F. (Kiner) Arnold and was a lifelong area resident. Vernon graduated from St. Paul High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in W.W. II.

He was the former owner of Arnolds Excavating for 25 years and retired from the Huron County Highway Department after 25 years of service. Vernon was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Senior Enrichment Services, Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, and was a 45 year member and 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #626. Vernon was a former Cub Scout Leader of Pack #206 and Boy Scout leader of Pact #234, and was also a Boy Scout Commissioner for Boy Scouts of America.

Vernon was a volunteer, for many years, at Fisher-Titus Hospital. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Vernon lived his life for his family, always putting his "family first".

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Violet M. (Welch) Arnold of Norwalk, Ohio and by his children, Linda Schuhardt of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Laura and Donald Martin of Bellevue, Ohio, Laurence and Deborah Arnold of Berlin Heights, Ohio, LaMont and Jill Arnold of Waneroo, West Australia, and Carolyn and David Nanez of Toledo, Ohio, by his grandchildren, Angela, Zachary, Heather, Drew, Aaron, Laura, Kurt, Karl, and Bradley, by 5 great grandchildren, by several step-grandchildren, several step- great grandchildren, and by his sister and brother in law, Arlene and Carl King of Norwalk, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Staff Sergeant Jonathon Martin in 2007 and by his sisters, Margaret Molnar and Marie Habick.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Eric Mueller will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
