44°Sex offender strikes again, goes to prison after molesting girl

A previously convicted sex offender received a four-year prison term for his latest crime -- molesting a 13-year-old local girl.
Joshua E. Bierce, 32, formerly of Greenwich and now of Upper Sandusky, was transported Monday from the Huron County Jail to the Lorain Correctional Institution. He had been in custody since July.
Once he's released from prison, Bierce will be on five years of parole.
Classified as a Tier III sex offender, the defendant must register his address with authorities every 90 days for the rest of his life once he's released from prison.
Bierce pleaded guilty Jan. 19 to sexual battery. He then was sentenced to four years in prison -- one year less than the maximum for the third-degree felony. Sexual battery covers any sexual conduct involving a biological, adoptive or step-parent.
The conviction is related to an Aug. 1, 2010 offense.
"According to the victim, it was an ongoing pattern of sexual abuse," Norwalk Law Director Stuart O'Hara said earlier.
The Huron County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation after the girl's father filed a complaint Oct. 9, 2010. After authorities received the results of unspecified testing and the investigation was complete, a warrant was issued and Bierce was arrested.
Bierce was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in 1998. Sgt. Lisa Schaffer, who oversees sex offender registration for Huron County, said the conviction was from Wyandot County for an offense involving a female juvenile victim and Bierce starting registering his address in 2003.
He served a prison term for the Wyandot County crime from 1999 through 2003.

This "SICKO" was my neighbor yrs ago....I reported him numerous times and Finally he will be sent away...not enough time for a second time offender to me..they should of threw the key away!!!! the "MOM" did know she is a "SICKO" too and in my opinion she should be right beside him for allowing this :(12:51 AM

This is exactly what wrong with the our judicial system. How can someone get 55 years in prison for selling a pound of pot and someone REPEATEDLY MOLESTING CHILDREN gets 4 years in prison. I like Mitch's idea but I believe a Gatling gun would be more fitting.02:07 PM

Over populated prisons, this country is the highest of all countries with prisoners. I think we should be like some of these third world countries. Lets start taking fingers off when people are caught stealing anything other than food. Lets castrate perverted men. Seems this country now can not even control the overflowing of our prison so we let these type of people back out to totally ruin another human beings life. Public hangings and punishment would sure change things in this country. I'm an American and am all for it03:26 PM

I will not disagree with you at all, America really needs to toughen up on the way we punish criminals, and actually mean "Death" row, as in shortly .. not a life time sitting there and being protected there... I do want to add some though though to so many people, such as yourself, that the idea of "castrating" the offenders seems like a good idea, and believe me, I am all for it too, but it will not make these criminals ever safe around their offenders or the victims type, ever again... Usually sexual assaults are more about control, than it is about sex, so even if you take away their "equipment" they will continue to control and abuse whomever they can with whatever is available to them..It is a good idea to remove their available body equipment, but please never think that it makes them safe to be around.. That goes for "Uncle John Doe" too just because he is an old man now, and probably has much life left in "old sparky" he is NOT safe around any children, he will still abuse and control them..it is more about their minds, than their equipment...09:35 AM
