A rural Wakeman woman told authorities another female suspect who was wanted on two contempt of court warrants wasn't at her house.

Minniebelle A. Yates, 30, of 79 N. Railroad St., New London, eventually was arrested without incident on two Norwalk Municipal Court failure to report to jail warrants late Wednesday night. She now is serving a 19-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

Patricia A. Eschen, 56, of 3791 Hanford Road, Wakeman, was issued a summons on obstruction of official business. Her first court appearance is Monday.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Huron County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Polachek received a tip that Yates might be at Eschen's residence, according to his report.

When Polachek arrived, Eschen told him that Yates wasn't there and she hadn't seen Yates for a couple of days, Capt. Ted Patrick said.

"We got (another) tip that she (Yates) was actually there," he said.

Polachek again confronted Eschen about the other woman's whereabouts and got permission to search Eschen's residence.

"She was found on the back porch," Patrick said about Yates.

Her contempt of court warrants are from the original convictions of theft and driving under the influence (DUI).

In April 2008, Yates was placed on two years of intensive probation for the theft conviction. About a year later, she was ordered to spend 40 days in jail after the court found she violated her probation by testing positive for marijuana twice in 10 days, according to court records. Yates also had her probation extended for another year.

Yates' DUI conviction in late January 2009 was for a Dec. 30, 2008 traffic stop by the New London Police Department.
