Norwalk councilman resigns
Feb 08
2012
Third-ward Councilman Chuck Furey offered his resignation from Norwalk council tonight, effective Feb. 29.
Furey had been appointed to council in March 2010, replacing Tom Stoll, who resigned. In November 2011, Furey was elected to a two-year term.

9:11AM, Saturday, NO Plows on my street, when Mayor Leash was mayor the plows would have plowed once or maybe even twice on my street. Most of the main streets are not plowed. Where are the plows Mayor Duncan and boy wonder safety director? Maybe the safety director is sledding with his friends or his mother doesn't allow him out in the snow....01:01 AM

@ Kottage Kat: Yes "RINO" is such an 'endearing' term. Obviously one must be "objective" in order to accurately comprehend its usage. LOL.12:41 PM

Heck, I just learned what tht meant yesterday, and thought applicable in this instance. I am a firm believer in politicans having party loyalty. Not all are Zell Miller's someone I admire. Kat01:02 PM

Local politics don't have party loyalty. Local politics should be about doing what's right for a city.02:01 PM

IMO, Mr. Furey's timing seems a bit 'specious.'He recently put on a push against abandoned properties. Perhaps he stepped on someone's toes?
It should be telling to see if some other member of city govt. picks up the gauntlet.
08:48 AM
Kottage Kat says
I believe that was Steve Schumm that did that.08:58 AM
6079 Smith W says
@ KK: My error.Regardless, IMO, the timing and the reasoning of the resignation reads a bit specious.
Kinda like when an official resigns to "spend more time with my family," one can be almost assured that - It ain't the "real" reason.

If you know much about Mr. Furey, he actually is quite busy. He has professional obligations that started before City Council. I believe he's on the NEDC board and the NCDC board uptown, as well as being involved on a few boards at FTMC. I also heard he became a grandpa late last year. God forbid he decides to spend some time with grandkid.09:16 AM
6079 Smith W says
@KK: Good to know that you follow his itinerary, but he was 'somehow' unaware of these other obligations and developments before he ran for re-election?09:41 AM
Seriously_Local says
He was probably unaware how much time is consumed being a grandparent of twins. Once you have those grandkids many other things become less important. I made a huge life change when I got by first granddaughter.09:55 AM

@NR: You had better remove Mr. Alan Furey's comment as well since he repeated my "speculation." Ya don't want to spread any possible rumors do ya?10:47 AM
Seriously_Local says
Why would they take down Furey's comment when it actually states facts, while your information was false? Maybe next time you'll think before you type. Makes me wonder if anything you post is factual...10:59 AM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: "Facts"? And you know this with "how"? Are you purview to Mr. Furey's last medical exam report?Regardless, it was mere "speculation" and I stated as such.. Capice? Climb off your high horse little buckaroo.

I know this because he is his son you idiot! He actually signed his name to the post you fool! I think he has more information about his father than you. All you have is your rampant speculation.Do you want to spread any more false rumors this week?
11:08 AM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: And parents 'of course' tell their children 'everything,' especially about their health conditions? LOL.11:23 AM
Seriously_Local says
Interesting how your comment yesterday was "Good to know" to the comment about Mr. Furey not being sick, but today you are mad the Reflector took down your false statement, and again you are beginning to speculate that Mr. Furey is sick, which his son stated was not true.11:27 AM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: Ad nauseum: It was "SPECULATION."Other than merely b*tching do you actually have anything worthwhile to offer?
12:00 PM
Seriously_Local says
What I offer are facts, and not merely speculation about a man's health that I know nothing about. Unlike you, I am not a liar.12:28 PM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: "Facts" as you perceive them.So you've never lied about ANYTHING in your entire life? LMAO!!!!
Keep b*tchin' sport.
12:40 PM
Seriously_Local says
The facts are simply - his son posted he's not sick and doesn't have an illness. That's good enough for me. Not sure why you are trying to start something here, but your ignorance is really shinning through.02:53 PM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: And even if that was in “fact” his son, he knows each and every thing that is going on with his father's business and health?Keep believing everything that you read on the web or elsewhere and be sure never to question - you'll make a fine tool.
Your ability to b*tch about absolute nonsense is amazing! Congratulations on a new mental low.

His son probably knows a lot more about the situation than you do idiot!05:44 PM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kabin Kitty: More than likely, but parents often do not tell their children "everything" do they?Keep b*tchin' about nothing - you're funny.

So Mr. Furey is telling all his health information instead of his son? Are you his attorney or just a Duncan Doughnut, you ****!02:02 PM

Toobusytoworkou... says
@ W Smith: Does that mean that I could speculate that you and Steven Corder hang out at playgrounds after the middle school lets out. Does not seem right to make blanket statements to start rumors about persons without such knowledge and CONSENT.02:17 PM
6079 Smith W says
@ Kondo Kougar: And if I cared to waste time, could I not speculate the same regarding you?WJ Clinton: "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is,' is."
Isn't it interesting that the NR saw fit to delete my comment and replace it with a sentence using the phrase "personal information" and not to just expunge it outright? A shred of truth perhaps?

Reference, council meetings on TWC, the gentleman that filmed the meeting was doing that on behalf of a councilwoman. He did the work and submitted it to TWC and in turn they would broadcast it due to their public access agreement with the city(which is no longer in effect) at least that is what I remember....could be wrong...
