An argument over a box of clothing led to a local man brandishing a loaded shotgun in front of his girlfriend and her daughters, a struggle with police and multiple charges, including a felony, police said.

Michael R. Ollie, 22, of 66 S. Main St., Monroeville, is in custody in the Huron County Jail, charged with weapon under disability (a felony), resisting arrest and disorderly conduct (both misdemeanors) in connection with the incident Sunday morning.

Monroeville Police Department Sgt. Frank Gleason was dispatched to 66 S. Main St. regarding a 9-1-1 call about a man with a gun inside an apartment.

After Gleason responded, a dispatcher reported the man was outside the apartment, had the gun with him and would possibly be in his green vehicle. The suspect was identified as Michael Ollie, according to a police report.

"I approached the area on foot and was unable to locate Mr. Ollie," Gleason wrote in his report. "Both vehicles at the north end of the apartment building were green and both were checked. Inside the green vehicle registered to Michael Ollie I observed two firearms laying on the back seat, one shotgun and one rifle.

Gleason continued his search for Ollie when a dispatcher advised the suspect was back in the apartment, along with his 38-year-old girlfriend and her three daughters.

Gleason knocked on the lower door at the base of the steps leading to the apartment.

"I discovered the lower door was open, I open(ed) the door and identified myself," Gleason wrote. "Mr. Ollie opened the door at the top of the stairs and I again identified myself and ordered Mr. Ollie to come down stairs and exit the building. Because of Mr. Ollie's defiant behavior, I repeated my request several more time(s) until Mr. Ollie finally appeared at the bottom of the steps.

"As I backed off of the landing, Mr. Ollie continued with his aggressive posture and continued screaming at me."

He also screamed obscenities at his girlfriend and then back at Gleason.

"I f--- hate cops for a reason!" Ollie said, according to the police report.

At this point, Gleason searched and did not see a firearm in Ollie's possession.

"I holstered my sidearm and drew my Taser. Mr. Ollie continued his screaming and now at the doorway had taken on a fighting stance while clenching his fists and stiff posture. I ordered Mr. Ollie to the ground and he stated that he would not. I advised Mr. Ollie I would use the Taser if he did not comply and he finally laid on the ground.

"I now advised Mr. Ollie to place his hands behind his back. ... Ollie stated he would not. I again advised Mr. Ollie to comply or I would deploy the Taser. After another request, Mr. Ollie placed his hands behind his back, however, he had now locked his hands together and positioned his wrists so handcuffs could not be placed on him."

Gleason holstered the Taser and continued to tell Ollie to unclench his hands. The sergeant tried to handcuff the suspect, and a struggle ensued.

"He struggled to keep his wrists away from the cuffs and during the struggle my left thumb was cut open," Gleason wrote. "After finally being able to place the cuffs on Mr. Ollie, I began to escort him to my cruiser and he continued to struggle, while screaming back at the apartment and pulling away from me. After struggl(ing) with Mr. Ollie back to the cruiser, he was placed in the left side rear of the cruiser and I returned to the apartment and made contact with Ollie's girlfriend ... and her three daughters, ages 17, 14 and 12. They told Gleason they were the only ones in the apartment and were OK. They did not require medical attention.

A sheriff's deputy arrived for backup.

"Deputy Wagner and I made contact with Mr. Ollie inside the back of my cruiser and found he had vomited in the rear of the cruiser," Gleason wrote. "We had Mr. Ollie exit the back and refitted his handcuffs, checked the proper fit and double locked. Mr. Ollie was now crying and again vomited outside my cruiser. Mr. (Ollie) continued with his offensive and combative behavior.

"While Deputy Wagner stayed with Mr. Ollie, I again made contact with (the victim) upstairs.

She told officers the argument started about an hour before police were called. She said the disturbance began over a box of Ollie's clothing that she had asked him to put away.

"Mr. Ollie became angered and started screaming at (his girlfriend and her daughters)," the report reads.

The tension escalated.

The girlfriend told Ollie, "You're psycho."

"You wanna see psycho? I'll show you psycho," he allegedly responded and walked to the bathroom.

The victim said she could see into the bedroom as Ollie loaded a shell into the shotgun and racked it into the chamber.

"Mr. Ollie then placed the barrel of the gun to his chin and began screaming at (his girlfriend) and her girls."

He called them vulgar names.

After seeing the gun, Ollie's girlfriend said she ran down the hallway and told her eldest daughter to contact police. The suspect "began yelling out the window as if he was yelling at responding police officers.

"(The victim) stated her daughter asked her if Mr. Ollie was going to shoot her."

Her mother indicated she didn't think so.

"Mr. Ollie then exited the apartment with the two guns that were later located in the car. Mr. Ollie then returned upstairs and continued screaming as he began packing his clothing items. He eventually left the apartment.

"This was when I made contact with him at the stairs and his subsequent arrest," Gleason wrote.

Ollie was taken to the Huron County Jail, where he remains in custody.
