2011
Three local ladies will participate in the Pan Ohio Hope Ride.
The Biker Chicks consist of five team members; three of the members are Norwalk residents. Mary Lonz is a teacher at Seneca East Schools, Jessica Wallace is a Norwalk High School graduate and is currently pursuing a master's degree and Jenny Hohman is a teacher for Norwalk City Schools. Other team members are Krista Petrolla and Lou Klein. Jessica and Mary participated in the ride last year.
This is the American Cancer Society's fifth annual Pan Ohio Hope Ride. The cycling trip is from Cleveland to Cincinnati, July 28 through 31. This is a ride between the society's two Hope Lodges in Ohio on a scenic tour to raise awareness for the Hope Lodges and other critical programs in the fight against cancer. The hope ride is a total of 328 miles, four days, two Hope Lodges and four college campuses. Participation in this journey will help raise dollars that will save lives by helping people get well, stay well, and by finding cures and fighting back.
Ohio is home to two of the 29 lodges that provide a free home-away-from-home for those who must travel far from home for treatment.
On June 4, the team will have a hot dog stand at Gardner's Super Valu. Plan to stop by and help raise funds for this worthy cause. The team has already had two successful bake sales. If you would like to donate online, visit www.panohiohoperide.org, click the "donate" button, search for team "biker chicks" and click "donate now."
We will have team biker chick T-shirts available on June 4; the cost is $12. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
Mail checks to the American Cancer Society: American Cancer Society, Attn: Pan Ohio Hope Ride, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Be sure to include the team name "biker chicks" when making a donation.
