I would also not think that Denny's comments were to critize anyone.04:20 AM

I don't believe Mr. Doughty meant to throw anyone under the bus with his comments.04:09 AM

Did you even read the article? The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) released the ratings based on last year and previous years comparisons. This is a state initiative. School district report cards have been around for a number of years now, though the measurements utilized have changed some, over time.10:46 PM

I might be wrong but not real sure. Didn't school just start in the middle of last week? How and why are they being graded now? Doesn't make any sense. Why not grade them halfway through the year or something to see if the students are grasping what is being taught. How can you give these schools top grades at the beggining of the year? Now the teachers/administrators have no incentive to TEACH these students. To make sure they are grasping the information being thrown at them. Just like everything else that is done in this area. A$$ backwards.09:28 PM

I read the entire story this afternoon in the E-Paper. Doughty said - While Doughty said he knows the district has areas to improve, he said the school is “working very hard” to improve reading for special needs students. First, why isn't the district working hard to improve the reading of all of it's students? I am sure that there were non-special needs students who did not pass the reading section of the test? Doughty's comment just threw the special education teachers in his district under the bus! A better comment would have been - "we are working very hard to improve our students' reading scores."
