CSIers, mark your calendars for the season premiere

There's good news and there's bad news.

First the good stuff. Marg Helgenberger, on "her" unofficial fan-based Facebook page, announced this today: "It's official. CSI returns on Thursday, September 23, 2010!"

Woo-hoo! Let the good times roll!

'Batman' '89 beginning blogged

I decided I needed to put my money where my mouth is. Having become a recent advocate for critics (and fans) taking an open-minded look at a film they haven't seen in a while, I decided to do the same thing with "Batman" (PG-13, 1989).

I hadn't seen all of Tim Burton's film since I sold my VHS tape months ago. There's no excuse since my fellow Batfan David gave me the "Batman Movie Anthology: 1989-1997"!

'Batman: Gotham Knight' DVD review (CCC flashback)

This might be a first about something Batman-related: I'm almost at a loss for words.

I just finished watching the "Batman: Gotham Knight" DVD last night, along with the extras. (FYI This was originally posted June 26, 2008.)

'Batman: RIP' storyline review (conclusion) (CCC fashback)

Just when Grant Morrison's story seems like it's going fairly straightforward, he throws us a curveball. In the next two issues, the reader is forced to understand what's happening by making his or her own conclusions based on a combination of what's happened beforehand and the characters' comments. The result is similar to experiencing a vague sense of clarity, much like the withdrawal from the crystal meth and heroin imposed upon Bruce Wayne.

One thing to keep in mind when you read these reviews: I was writing these as I read the issues.

'Wonder Woman' DVD review (CCC flashback)

Imagine pitching an action-adventure piece based loosely on mythology wrapped around elements of a romantic comedy as your project to feature one of the most well known super heroes ever.

OK, that may not be what Warner Bros. intended, but that's what director Lauren Montgomery has done with "Wonder Wonder" (rated PG-13 for good reason). Sound weird? Absolutely. But, guess what? It works — in spades.

Dancing rebounds on DWTS

IMO the dancing was MUCH improved, the performances better across the board and judges more consistent - and in line with my thinking - than previous weeks on “Dancing With the Stars’ this season. I LOVED the group hustle. Made me want to be out there with them.

Glad to see just two individual dances: the paso doble and Argentine tango.

Bruno becomes Mr. Cranky Pants on DWTS

So Bruno turned into Mr. Cranky Pants on “Dancing With the Stars” Monday night.

I’m getting sick of hearing him gripe about “you lost your timing over there” and “you missed a step.” Wah, wah, wah.

Education - Sail into your Future

Once upon a time there was a large ship that set sail from Europe to America.  It was know as the Unsinkable Titanic.  No one ever imagined that it would hit an iceberg and sink.  The people on that ship reacted to the tragedy in a variety of ways.

No, this is not about a horse race. It's about Laurence Fishburne's character doing the first-ever triple crossover on "CSI"!

The big, interconnected storyline starts tonight (!) at 10 PM on "CSI: Miami," continues into "CSI: New York" (10 PM Wednesday) and wraps up in the standard "CSI" (9 PM Thursday).

Ozzy's Brat leaving DWTS tonight?

Now that’s what I’m talking about! The second half of “Dancing With the Stars” on Monday, with the Latin dances of the decades, produced the best string of dances all season. I watched four of the five a second time — and I may watch them again tonight, thanks to the DVR.

Since those dances were so good, I’ll lead them with them in my celeb-by-celeb recap, in order of performances:
