More Ohioans will qualify for the Home Energy Assistance Program this year. Income eligibility rose for fiscal year 2010 to 200% of the federal poverty level, or $44,100 for a family of 4. Additionally, the PUCO has again ordered utilities to reconnect or continue service to customers having trouble paying their bills. Participants will have to pay the amount owed or $175, whichever is less, plus a $36 reconnection fee. Customers can use the plan to have service reconnected one time between October 19 and April 15.
