So, Grissom drops his good-bye bombshell...

… only to tell absolutely no one why. I’m guessing we’ll find out next week, but since this is “CSI,” would a clue have been too tough to ask for? What exactly will he do – go back to school, study bugs, teach or as I’ve suggested, ride off into the sunset with Lady Heather? * A killer with an attention to details: He wears surgical gloves, has a hard plastic tie for the “body bag,’ and has the car running with the lights on – but drags the bag through the snow and dumps in an obvious spot, the woods? * Riley: “Trash run for the low guy on the totem pole.” Eric: “I promise not to abuse my power over you.” * Riley looked as bothered as any of the veterans at Grissom’s announcement. Did you notice Grissom didn’t give a reason he was leaving? Shees, talk about being anal retentive. * Was Grissom wiping away tears as he walked away? * Grissom: “Call the coroner; tell him he’s got a swamp to go.” * Catherine to Hodges: “It’s good to stay busy.” Yeah, that way you don’t have to address what you’re thinking. Not that I’m Mr. Talk About EverythingS, but still! * Doc: “Are you running away from something or to something or to someone?” To paraphrase Hamlet, that has been the question on this blog for weeks now! * Grissom to Hodges: “Hey David, I gotta talk to you.” Hodges: “A little late for that. You do what you gotta do.” Ouch! As suspected, Hodges is hurt by Grissom leaving. * Grissom looks like he wants to say something to Catherine – wouldn’t want that now. Sharing your feelings or thoughts with your long-time friends?!? Ooooh… And just when they would start talking, they stop! Why? Grrrrr. * Mudererabilia * Grissom to Brass: “We’ll stay in touch.” Riiiiiight. … * I missed the connection to the class. Why is Grissom attending for sake of this case? * What does Dr. Langston sense about Grissom? * “Could I buy you a drink?” That’s your killer, folks! * Haskell is one – creepy – guy.. * David: “You’re going to miss this, you are.” Grissom: “There are bugs everywhere. … But I will miss you, David.” Finally – some thoughts being expressed. Grissom can’t bring himself to finish his thoughts on leaving to Catherine - his friend and assistant, but he can tell the deputy coroner he'll miss him? * Why didn’t Langston kill the feed as soon as the mother burst in? * Oops! Grissom, you said a bit to much, didn’t you? * Langston: “I don’t teach this class because I get off on this stuff, OK?” * Brass: “He’s a little cranky for an academic, isn’t he?” Best line of the night! * Man, Grissom looks old suddenly in that scene with Langston and Brass. * That was the spookiest music I’ve ever heard when they were going to see Nick’s discovery. Now the question remains is how are we going to move from Langston being pissed at Grissom for invading his class, to grudgingly calling him to being his replacement? My guess is Grissom will recommend him.

I thought you would like the suggestion about the miniature killer, well not "like" per se but like it for a laugh.

And if you can find me a good therapist I could probably put him to good use! haha

I don't think they know what to do with Riley's character. I hope they find a good way to have her fit in and be interesting. We could use someone a bit eclectic.

Maybe that is the Grissom deal too. They are probably waiting to get a feel for what the audience wants. I think that is what happened with Wilson on House. He was departing but still getting paid and they were phasing him out. But I heard the fans wanted him back full time, so there he is. I missed him but the PI that House hired was a fun addition to the show and now he is gone. I think if they found a niche for him, it would have been good for the show. Oh wait, this is a CSI blog! hahaha

Cary

Tess, you're right on the "soup to go" line. Cha-ching! I think I may have been rushing when I wrote my notes, not to mention retyping them.

Gil and the miniature killer?! I don't know whether to laugh, cry or call your therapist. (Good one, though!)

They better not make Eric and Riley an item. His comment this time was just to razz her. On the other hand, she obviously likes saying outlandish, suggestive things to get rise out of her teammates. I think the writers need to do more to develop what kind of character she is.

I suspect Brass' boating comment was figuratively to show he was "fishing" to get Gil to talk about why he's leaving and literally show he knows nothing about Gil's private life.

As far as the serial killer goes, I don't think "the chicks could feel his desires." I think he was intentionally being creepy, suggestive, slimey, etc. to see how far he could push things with Langston.

I'm with you - the writers can't jerk us around about why Grissom is leaving. Give us a definitive reason!

Cary

It was somewhat surprising there wasn't a new episode this week since CBS won't be airing any over the holidays. Nothing like keeping us wondering!

Tess

January 15th..........

Tess

What the........ I was all ready to watch the "to be continued" episode. For once I was watching instead of DVR-ing. Then I find out it is a repeat. I checked CBS.com and there is no mention of it. Obviously it will not be on the next two weeks with the holidays. Now, not only are they being vague about Grissom's departure, they are putting us off for three more weeks.

Anyhow, just wanted to vent. Also, I saw your story on the train accident in NL. Sorry you had to do such a sad one.

Tess

I don't read it either, it would bore me to death. But that section was peeking out from the front one and I thought, wow that guy looks like the coroner from CSI. Of course, I had to follow up!

Tess

They did kind of trick everyone in saying the 11th was Gil's last show. I guess it sucked us in... not that we wouldn't have been there anyhow. I still hope you are wrong about Lady Heather... but how about if the miniature killer escapes with Gil's help and they run away! Quite the turn around for Gil.
* Riley: “Trash run for the low guy on the totem pole.”Eric: “I promise not to abuse my power over you.” (You think they are heading for the planet of lust?)

* Riley looked as bothered as any of the veterans at Grissom’s announcement. Did you notice Grissom didn’t give a reason he was leaving? Shees, talk about being anal retentive. (He is Grissom, he probably never will.)

* Was Grissom wiping away tears as he walked away?
(I saw that. It looked kind of like he was rubbing his forehead like he does when he is thinking. But I do believe it was tears; it was hard to see thru mine to tell for sure.)
* Grissom: “Call the coroner; tell him he’s got a swamp to go.” (ok.. I had to rewind twice but I think you are wrong. I believe he said "tell him he has soup to go". But I could be wrong as I did not CC this time around.) This was the funny I was waiting for. Normally it comes at the beginning but that was put off bc of the announcement. So I was glad it did come! I will miss his borderline jokes.

* Doc: “Are you running away from something or to something or to someone?” To paraphrase Hamlet, that has been the question on this blog for weeks now! (I wanted an answer right then. Where is it?)

* Grissom to Hodges: “Hey David, I gotta talk to you.”
Hodges: “A little late for that. You do what you gotta do.” Ouch! As suspected, Hodges is hurt by Grissom leaving. (Wow; have a nice life? yikes Hodges is definitely crushed. A bit odd in my opinion.)

* Grissom looks like he wants to say something to Catherine – wouldn’t want that now. Sharing your feelings or thoughts with your long-time friends?!? Ooooh… And just when they would start talking, they stop! Why? Grrrrr. (I felt empty too. Throw me a bone here darlin)

* Mudererabilia (first time for that one?)

* Grissom to Brass: “We’ll stay in touch.” Riiiiiight. … (what was the boat comment if he doesn't have one? Maybe he thought Gil was buying one. Do a little fly fishing? )

* I missed the connection to the class. Why is Grissom attending for sake of this case? (A way to get the two together. I think they could have come up with something different, but this part of the story line was intriging even though the dude creeped me out by being able to read everyone and the chicks could feel his desires.

* “Could I buy you a drink?” That’s your killer, folks! (I was amazed she said yes. I would have been so uneasy no matter who said it after that session.)

* Haskell is one – creepy – guy..(to say the least)

Finally – some thoughts being expressed. Grissom can’t bring himself to finish his thoughts on leaving to Catherine - his friend and assistant, but he can tell the deputy coroner he’ll miss him?
(quite unusual)
* Why didn’t Langston kill the feed as soon as the mother burst in? (Because it is tv..hahah..)

* Langston: “I don’t teach this class because I get off on this stuff, OK?” (So far I don't care for his attitude. I hope it changes)

* Brass: “He’s a little cranky for an academic, isn’t he?” Best line of the night!
(Brass has to throw in some classics!)

* Man, Grissom looks old suddenly in that scene with Langston and Brass. (A combination of leaving and not knowing where he is going or if he is making the right decision has stressed him out)

* That was the spookiest music I’ve ever heard when they were going to see Nick’s discovery. (Hence my wanting company when I watched. Well, we can't have everything.)

Now the question remains is how are we going to move from Langston being pissed at Grissom for invading his class, to grudgingly calling him to being his replacement? My guess is Grissom will recommend him. (I think he is already forgiven. It seems by the call he made that means he knows it was a good thing to do. Accept the help.)

(What about how Catherine got promoted. It was like it was an oversight that didn't really matter when actually it was a big thing. I have never seen a promotion like that when the person was not even aware. But then they talked about a level one replacement so they would not be short. Is that the good Dr? Or someone additional? Is Catherine really taking his position or is that a temporary thing??)

In the end, I hope they give some kind of closure on, not just "thanks, see ya!"

Cary

Yeah, I thought that was quite interesting. When I saw it, I wondered what it had to do with autombiles — not that I EVER read that section. Like you, I didn't know he had such a disability.

Tess

Hey Cary, did you catch the story on Albert the coroner in your paper tonight? I found it interesting. I never knew his background. I certainly didn't expect to learn about him in the Wheels section of the paper.
