(About) one week to 'CSI'

With all credit to DWTS blogger Matt Roche, I thought I'd do a one-week countdown to CSI. No, I won't be doing daily blogs — and there trutfully isn't a lot of news to report, but William "Grissom" Petersen shared his possible future/life after "CSI" plans with TV Guide. (The cover has a sexy shot of Marg "Catherine" Helgenberger cozying up behind Petersen on the hood of a red car.)

Here's how www.cinemablend reported it Tuesday: (FYI, Cinema Blend has a good mix of news/rumor coverage and opinion if you're looking to bookmark an entertainment blog!) When asked if the next step for his career was returning to movies, Petersen said, “If this was about going off and making films, I’d stay on CSI. I’d love to see us make a CSI film.” His implication there, it would seem, is that if he’d stuck around they might be putting together a CSI feature. In fact, it sounds like the possibility of making a movie is one of the reasons they aren’t killing him off. He says, “That’s the other reason Grissom isn’t going to die of a brain tumor.”

Don't expect a movie anytime soon. This is Petersen basically talking about a wish, nothing more. I could see a movie happen — but ONLY after it's been taken off the air, somewhat like "Star Trek: The Next Generation." The "CSI" film could definitely be a suspenseful, yet tasteful PG-13 thriller.

Now the other tidbit from that interview excerpt is Grissom isn't going to die (at least "of a brain tumor"). If memory serves correctly, Petersen has said he wouldn't be opposed to returning in a "special guest" capacity and I believe he's supposed to continue with an executive producer role.

Speaking of deaths, judging from the promos for the season premiere, it looks like it will be a "Warrick-is-hanging-on-for-dear-life-as-everyone-else-mourns-his-inevitable-death" type of episode. (Whew! Another breath and ...) I hope we'll see some more redemption for Warrick and I hope it won't be too sentimental. I can handle flashbacks, but I dread anything too heavy-handed.

NOW THE FUN PART! What's your opinion on a possible movie? What do you expect from the first show? This season? How will Grissom depart? Post a comment below and let the chatting begin. See you next Friday for my blog/review.
