California Girl Katy Perry is dumping stuff left and right. Boyfriend John Mayer: Gone. And now her house in Hollywood Hills, the one she bought with ex-husband Russell Brand, has officially hit the market for $6.925 million.
Perry and Russell bought the 3-acre estate on Hollywood Boulevard in L.A for $6.5 million but never got a chance to move in the furniture when their tabloid-friendly marriage blew apart. Since the July 2012 divorce and in between dabbling with bad-boy musician Mayer, Perry had been trying to quietly sell the 7-bedroom, 11-bath estate, but has decided to go all the way by listing the home on the MLS.
Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, Can’t You See
Christopher George Latore Wallace (aka "Biggie," "Biggie Smalls" and "Notorious B.I.G."), didn’t live long but boy, did he make a big and lasting impression. The rapper’s style and rhymes propelled him to stardom that only further accentuated the Brooklyn childhood drama that saw him selling drugs and getting locked up. So when he called his Clinton Hill apartment a “one-room shack,” he did it with the license of a rapping poet.
Turns out that just like Biggie, his childhood home was ripe for a major upgrade. The “one-room shack” in apartment 3L on Saint James Place in Brooklyn is now seen as a hip-hop landmark, which along with a renovation has resulted in it being listed for sale for $725,000. The apartment in the 1906 building last sold in 2004 for $424,866, seven years after Wallace’s notorious murder on March 9, 1997.
Radio King’s Crib Comes With Majestic Price
Before there was satellite radio and streaming broadcasts over the Internet or Ryan Seacrest, Casey Kasem was king of the airwaves – and the home he and his wife own shows the power of radio – back in the day. Kasem’s North Mapleton Drive home in Los Angeles has just hit the market for $42 million.
Kasem, the first “American Top 40” host and the voice of Shaggy in “Scooby-Doo,” bought the 8-bedroom home in 1989. Built in 1954, the gated estate has an English-style library and oceans of marble covering the opulent bathrooms, a custom-built heart-shaped swimming pool, tennis court, two garages and gazebos galore.
