Opera in Bellevue
BELLEVUE On Tuesday morning, professional musicians and performers from Opera Cleveland will present "An Aesop Odyssey" at the Bellevue Society for the Arts. The production is the result of a generous grant from The International Metal Hose Company, and is being presented to area fifth-graders, including all fifth-graders from Bellevue and ICS, as well as other area schools. There is no cost to the schools or students.
In preparation for the program the fifth-graders have recently received a unit of instruction in opera from their music teachers, focusing on "An Aesop Odyssey." Opera Cleveland has a long history of "taking the show on the road" to young people in Northern Ohio, to help them understand and appreciate this art form, and this effort is also subsidized by the National Endowment for the Arts and by the Ohio Arts Council.
The Huron County Help Me Grow Program will offer a free workshop for families of young children with special needs at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sarah's House, 130 Shady Lane in Norwalk. Refreshments and childcare will be provided.
"Seasons of the Heart" will be presented by the Family Information Network of Ohio. The session is open to anyone interested in joining with other families to share the ups and downs of having a child with special needs. Topics include identifying feelings experienced as a parent or caregiver of a child with a developmental delay or disability, how to take care of yourself as you care for your child, and identifying personal strengths to help face challenges.
For registration, childcare and directions, contact Huron County Help Me Grow at (419) 663-4769. Help Me Grow, a cooperative effort of county agencies, provides health and developmental services to expectant parents, newborns, infants and toddlers ages birth to three so that children start school healthy and ready to learn.
