Country Music Showcase set for Saturday in Norwalk

A Country Music Showcase is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Norwalk Theatre uptown. Eleven contestants from areas such as Fremont, Willard, Monroeville, Lexington and Ashland are slated to perform.

The top three contestants win cash prizes and, in addition, the top two will be the opening act for David Church when he returns for a concert in May. Church is the No. 1 Tribute Artist to Hank Williams.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Regular box office hours are 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and noon to 2 p.m. Sundays. You can call the theater at (419) 668-8036 or send an e-mail to teresa@norwalktheatre.com.

Menu, ticket sales announced at SC

GREENWICH - The menu for the South Central Dinner Theater set for March 30 and 31 has been announced. Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dinner rolls, fruit, coffee and punch will be served prior to the show.

Show times are 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. March 30 and 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. March 31. Doors will open half an hour before each show.

The dinner theater will feature songs by Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Lerner & Lowe and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Tickets are $12 each and will go on sale from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. You can order them by calling (419) 752-3354 or in the choir room behind the high school by the stadium. Tickets ordered by phone can be paid for and picked up from March 21 to 29 in the junior high school office during school hours.

Ordered tickets can be paid for and picked up in the junior high school office during school hours. Checks can be made payable to SC Music Parents. When ordering tickets, indicate if you need handicapped seating.

Bellevue hosts 'From Bach to Bernstein'

BELLEVUE - Terra Community College's Department of Music will present a concert titled "From Bach to Bernstein" at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Bellevue Society for the Arts, 205 Maple St., Bellevue. The public is welcome to attend the free concert, which will last about an hour without intermission.

The program includes Cantata 4 Christ lag in Todesbanden and Chorale Variations by J.S. Bach, Variations of Ode To Joy by Beethoven, Farandole by Bizet, selections from Four New England Pieces by Dave Brubeck, and selections from Leonard Bernstein's Candide.

Richland Dance Academy hosting annual spring show

MANSFIELD - Richland Academy presents "Through the Looking Glass of Dance" as the theme for this year's annual Spring Dance Show. The shows are open to the general public and will be at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

The show features more than 160 dancers, 4 years of age and up performing a variety of dance forms including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, hip-hop and tap. Academy faculty choreographing the show includes Emily L. Patterson, Shellie Gorman and Danielle Stevens. The teachers are assisted backstage by more than 20 parent volunteers. Many of the dancers perform in several dances, changing costumes throughout the show.

Schools represented in the recital are Mansfield City, Madison, Lucas, St. Peter's, Clear Fork, St. Joseph Crestline, Lexington, Mt. Vernon, Crestview, Mansfield Christian, Ontario and Discovery.

Another show, Alice in Wonderland, directed by Emily L. Patterson, will be presented at two performances for the Children's Theatre Foundation May 17 at the Mansfield Senior High School auditorium. Richland Academy has presented CTF shows for the past 10 years.

Angel Foss to sing twice this weekend

SANDUSKY - Angel Foss, a local independent artist, musician, singer and songwriter, will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday at Sands of South Beach in Sandusky and from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Friendly Corner's in Norwalk. Admission to both events is free.

Foss, 34, has been a pianist and songwriter since age 7.
