Deete M. Zimmerman, 70, of 824 S. Norwalk Road, hit a deer Wednesday on Ridge Road.

NORWALK FIRE

Dispatchers canceled an 5:24 a.m. call Wednesday to 5144 U.S. 250 to assist with entry into a home before firefighters left the station.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 9:06 a.m. Wednesday at 22 Welton Ave. Returned to station at 9:25.

NORWALK POLICE

Charles L. Alt Jr., 26, of 17 Grand Ave., was arrested on a warrant Wednesday and charged with a probation violation in connection with testing positive for opiates March 5. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Arrested a 16-year-old Ford Avenue girl Wednesday at Norwalk High School and charged her with assaulting another student. She was transferred to the Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center.

A Monroe Street, Bellevue, motorist reported being involved in an accident with no vehicle damage Wednesday on West Main Street.

A West Washington Street resident reported Wednesday that someone had been taking about $240 from his mother's checking account for the last eight to nine months.

A Fuller Drive resident reported someone keyed the rear passenger side bed of his pickup truck Wednesday.

Silviano Hernandez, 51, of 212 Dale Ave., Willard, was served a summons on a warrant Wednesday and charged with storing an improperly licenses/unlicensed or inoperable motor vehicle outdoors.

Kevin B. Hamilton, 24, of 5498 Griffin Road, New London, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Wednesday after he hit the rear of the stopped vehicle driven by Mark A. West, 48, of McCalla, Ala., on Benedict Avenue.

Joshua J. Hancock, 26, of 137 N. Pleasant St., Apt. 1A, was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a Whittlesey Avenue traffic stop today. He was charged after he lost control while heading south, crossed the curb line and hit a tree, stopping on the sidewalk. Hancock was cited and released.

An employee with the Huron County Highway Department reported seeing a suspicious person unloading unspecified items from a train Wednesday at the intersection of Section Line Road 30 and Townline Road 12, Willard.

An area resident reported vandalism Wednesday at Norwalk Baptist Church on Halfway Road.

A Halfway Road resident reported having unspecified information for deputies Wednesday.

A Pleasant Street, Willard, resident reported finding an abandoned purse containing credit cards Wednesday.

A Vesta Road, Wakeman, resident reported a suspicious vehicle Wednesday.

A Bullhead Road, Willard, resident reported hearing a shot fired from the hunting grounds across the road from her home Wednesday.
