Gillmor accepting intern applications

U.S. Rep. Paul Gillmor (R-Tiffin) is accepting applications for interns in his Washington D.C. office. Each year, Gillmor offers a limited number of internship positions in each of his offices, and he is looking to fill immediate openings in his Washington, D.C. office.

The duties of a Congressional intern include assisting full-time staff with processing constituent mail, answering phones, drafting correspondence, attending committee hearings and briefings, responding to invitations and conducting Capitol tours. Interns will also research a project of special interest to them for presentation to Gillmor at the conclusion of their internship.

To be eligible for the competitive Congressional internships, an applicant must be an Ohio resident attending a college or university during the calendar year of application. A stipend will be provided. Wenzinger joins Wine Shop at Home

Julie Wenzinger of Sandusky has recently joined Wine Shop at Home as an Independent Wine Consultant. Wine Shop at Home is based in San Ramon, Calif., and specializes in handcrafted boutique wines from premium winemakers of California.

As a consultant, Wenzinger conducts wine tasting events in homes, offices and for corporate events. She also offers wine club memberships, custom labeled wines for special occasions and is able to apply corporate and business logos to wine and gift items.

Wine Shop at Home currently operates in 15 states. Wenzinger lives in Sandusky with her husband and five children.

Carmike Cinemas adds digital cinema

SANDUSKY Carmike Cinemas at 4314 Milan Road has installed Digital Cinema projectors.

"For today's movie-going audiences, seeing a digital movie means that there is no film to scratch, fade or wear out by too many showings. They will see a perfect, jitter-free, high-quality image whether it is the 10th, 100th, or even the 1000th showing of the feature," said Dale Hurst, Carmike's director of marketing.

Business owners attend convention

Area business owners Kevin and April Hipp of Franklin Monument, Ltd. attended the Annual Convention of Monument Builders of North America in Cincinnati, Jan. 10 to 22.

The convention showcased new techniques in monument design and memorialization to better assist customers in their decisions regarding memorial choice.

Milan salon moves

MILAN Hair on the Square has moved from 12 Main St to 11 W. Church St, suite E-3 in the Milan Professional Complex.

The 7-year-old business employs two stylists, owner Deb Bunting, and Diane Woodruff.
