HIGHWAY PATROL

Samuel C. Gerken, 16, of 2961 Ridge Road, was charged with failure to yield the right of way while turning left Feb. 6 in the collision with the vehicle driven by Marcus D. Skelton, 18, of 5 Page St., at the intersection of Ohio 61 and Ohio 601.

Troopers are investigating a crash Friday in which the unknown driver of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid went off the left side of Peru Center Road while traveling north and hit a ditch. The driver went back on and off the right side of the road, off the left side again and stopped in a ditch.

Timothy A. Perkins, 44, of 410 S. Main St., Willard, hit a deer Friday on New State Road.

William M. Layport, 73, of Wellington, was charged with failure to control Saturday after he swerved to miss a cat while heading east on Ohio 303. He went off the left side of the road, hit a landscape rock pile, then went airborne and hit a mailbox and utility pole. North Central EMS transported him to Oberlin Hospital with minor injuries.

Courtney B. Keiser, 20, of 5 N. Railroad St., Greenwich, hit a deer Sunday on New State Road.

The following people hit deer Monday: Jennifer M. Kidd, 29, of 127 N. Railroad St., New London, on Ohio 162; and Christy L. Thompson, 26, of 91 1/2 S. Linwood Ave., on U.S. 20.

Kaylyn A. Eldridge, 18, of 129A Pleasant St., was charged with failure to control Monday after she went off the left side of Washington Road and hit a ditch and log.

Serena J. Shepherd, 36, of 4302 W. Townline Road 12, Willard, attempted to avoid a Jeep Cherokee that went left of center Monday while heading south on Ohio 61. Shepherd went off the left side of the road and hit a ditch. The crash remains under investigation.

MONROEVILLE PD

A Monroe Street resident reported domestic violence Wednesday to the Huron County Sheriff's Office. A Monroeville officer responded and the complainant said there was a verbal dispute in which she felt threatened, but there was no physical violence. The suspect left the apartment without incident.

Valine M. Schaade, 20, of Tiffin, was arrested and charged with underage possession of alcohol and an open container violation in connection with being the passenger in an Ohio 547 traffic stop Sunday. She was cited and released to the sober driver who was not charged.

NORWALK FIRE

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 8:29 p.m. Monday at 55 N. Garfield St. Returned to station at 8:45.

Responded to a transformer that shorted out and waited until Ohio Edison officials arrived at 10:30 p.m. Monday at 331 Milan Ave. Returned to station at 11:19.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 7:48 a.m. today on Old State Road. Returned to station at 7:57.

NORWALK POLICE

Michael Sandifer, 30, of 26 1/2 Benedict Ave., No. 1, was arrested, charged with domestic violence and held in custody until his Norwalk Municipal Court hearing Monday.

An employee of Norwalk High School reported a female student threatened to harm herself Monday. She was released to her grandfather for the rest of the day.

A Marion Drive resident reported someone hit his legally parked car and fled the scene Monday.

Tyler P. McKinnon, 19, of 5000 Medusa Road, was charged with a stop sign violation Monday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Valerie A. French, 51, of 6484 Ohio 303, Wakeman, at the intersection of East U.S. 20 and Old State Road.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

A Chenango Road, Wakeman, resident reported her mailbox was missing Monday.

Dispatched the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department and a deputy to Olive Road, Willard, after a resident called 9-1-1, complaining her propane logs were making noise and she couldn't shut off the line.

An area resident reported several vehicles were parked partially on Townline Road 12, Willard, Monday.

An East Ohio 113, Bellevue, resident reported his daughter was unruly Monday.

Dispatchers were advised of an alarm activation Monday on Ohio 60, Wakeman.

The New London Police Department requested a deputy check an unspecified county address Monday for a person suspected of committing a burglary in the village.

A Chenango Road, Wakeman, resident reported his mailbox had been vandalized and reported seeing a suspicious pedestrian Monday.

A Peru Olena Road resident reported a suspicious vehicle was at the home of his neighbor, who was out of town Monday.
