Liberty Tax Service assists troop effort

Liberty Tax Service has partnered with Valentines for Troops, a California-based organization that ships hundreds of thousands of Valentines each year to U.S. service members.

Shauna Fleming, the 17-year old founder of Valentines for Troops, said she is excited to have a company the size of Liberty Tax Service help her this year with the campaign.

The Virginia Beach Va.-based tax service operates 2,450 offices in the United States and Canada, including one in Norwalk. All Liberty Tax Service offices are being asked to participate in the collection of handmade Valentines that will be shipped to the Valentines for Troops organization.

Wallace joins Barnes Wendling CPAs

Kari J. Wallace, a certified professional accountant, has joined Barnes Wendling as a senior manager in the Sandusky and Sheffield Village offices.

Wallace has more than 17 years of experience working with closely held businesses. Wallace is responsible for supervising and reviewing tax engagements, including individuals, partnerships, corporations and trusts. She has worked as an interim CFO for a mid-size manufacturing company. Wallace received a B.A. in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and resides in Lorain.

Barnes Wendling has offices in Cleveland, Sandusky and Sheffield Village.

Specialists join CIGNA's network

Cleveland CIGNA HealthCare of Ohio and Northern Ohio Medical Specialists announced that they have reached a multi-year agreement, under which the group's 34 physicians will participate in CIGNA's network beginning Feb. 1, 2007. Northern Ohio Medical Specialists is one of the largest multi-specialty group providers in North Central Ohio.

Claus and Searl retire from NFC

Norwalk Furniture announced the retirement of Stella Claus and Les Searl.

Claus worked for Norwalk Furniture from 1970 to 1981, resigned, and then returned in 1983 and continued working until January of this year a total 34 years of service. Claus worked as a hand cutter in the Fabric Cutting Department.

Searl worked for Norwalk Furniture from August 1972 until January of this year. He worked for many years upholstering sleepers, then transferred to a trim upholsterer job in the D Line (also known as the KD line for many years), where he worked until he retired. He consistently won "Perfect Attendance" awards.
