NEW LONDON Terry Warchol, who is in the environmental division of the Huron County Health Department, spoke to the New London Rotary Club Jan. 22.

He said he covers the eastern part of the county and inspects food services and establishments, mobile home parks, campgrounds, beaches, public pools, tattoo parlors and schools, which in September will come under stricter state regulations emphasizing safety.

He also discussed the new state-mandated sewage regulations already in effect and which concern anyone installing a new septic system. According to Warchol, the law now requires a soil report done by a soil scientist, which then goes to a soil designer or installer. These plans are reviewed by his department, which issues a permit so construction can begin.

Warchol suggested anyone with questions about the new regulations log on to huroncohealth.com or call (419) 668-1652 or (888) 694-2443.
