Dining with Diabetes

Fisher-Titus Medical Center and The Ohio State University Extension in Huron County are teaming up to offer "Dining with Diabetes" a program designed for people with diabetes and their family members.

The three-class series includes learning strategies to manage diabetes, tasting healthy foods and observing cooking demonstrations.

Each class will include dinner, demonstration of recipes with Deb Angell of the OSU Extension, a lesson with FTMC Dietitian Tracy Stadler, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, and a tasting of recipes.

This program will be offered from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 1 to 15 in The Carriage House of FTMC-Garden Level. Cost for the series is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, call (419) 663-1975, ext. 6560.

Heartsaver CPR

Fisher-Titus Medical Center is offering Heartsaver CPR training from 6 to 10 p.m. Feb. 1, at the hospital, 272 Benedict Ave., Norwalk.

Participants will learn CPR, breathing, resuscitation techniques, and choking response techniques. To register or for more information call FTMC at (419) 660-2646.

FTMC Auxiliary jewelry sale

The Fisher-Titus Medical Center Auxiliary will have a jewelry sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Ghrist Room (use the FTMC patient pavilion entrance off Shady Lane Drive, Norwalk).

Save 50 to 70 percent on gold, silver, gemstones and more. Cash, check and credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the FTMC Auxiliary.

Breastfeeding class

Fisher-Titus Medical Center is offering a breastfeeding class for expectant mothers. Participants will learn tips and techniques for more successful and effective breastfeeding along with the benefits it provides to both mother and baby. Class will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 3 at the hospital, 272 Benedict Ave., Norwalk.

Exercise classes for seniors

FTMC's Seniors Stay Strong and Seniors Keep Moving programs are now offered as mix-and-match sessions and are on a drop-in basis.

Attend 12 sessions of Seniors Keep Moving and/or Seniors Stay Strong for $27.50, PrimeCare Advantage discount for $25. To sign up, join a free trial class.

Seniors Stay Strong: 8 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Ernsthausen Recreation Center. Class designed to tone and strengthen muscles.

Seniors Keep Moving: 9 a.m. Tuesdays, Ernsthausen Recreation Center and 9 a.m. Thursdays, Carriage House. Fitness class targeting balance, endurance, strength and flexibility for seniors.
