Volunteer before you criticize

I would like to respond to the recent articles on Children Services. Until you have volunteered for Reach our Youth, assisted parents for a night out, fostered 24-7 ... we need to support our Children Services employees. Children are a gift at every age. I enjoy the sparkle in their eyes, the smiles and laughter, inquisitive minds and new daily experiences of growth. Thank you to Children Services for your work after 5 p.m., calls on Christmas, research to respond to the specific needs of EACH child, teamwork to understand rejection attachment issues, increased work load ... the list is endless.

I challenge you to pick up a phone and call Roy, Circle of Friends, Children Services Pleasant Street School or parents on your block to volunteer your time to influence a child.

Experience the joy of giving ... you will received more than you what you give.
