Ridgefield Country Kids
Gary Bauer has been honored for his 35 years as a 4-H advisor.
When the Ridgefield Country Kids 4-H club met recently for its second meeting of the year, members decided to honor Bauer for his dedication to the youngsters. The group presented him with a plaque, certificate and a cake. Bauer gave a history of his 35-year tenure most of them coming with the Ridgefield Country Kids. He was one of the original advisors that started this club in 1978.
He will be honored at the county level at an advisors banquet in March along with other tenured advisors. He said he has enjoyed working with youth over the years in the 4-H organization and he is presently working with second-generation members of the original club.
During the business part of the meeting, the group voted to give $50 to the upcoming "A" Grade Banquet. Two committees were formed one for 4-H week activities and promotion and one for the club's yearly program of activities booklet. Club members voted to cover cost of bowling and pizza from the previous meeting.
The advisors talked to the group about upcoming officer elections at the next meeting, which will be at the home of advisors Gary and Robyn Bauer at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6.
