Miss Maple City headed to Mansfield

MANSFIELD - Miss Maple City 2008 Heather Wells,of Warren, Ohio and a student at Youngstown State University, will represent Norwalk and Huron County at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. Roberta Camp, Miss Maple City 2007 and Miss Ohio 2007, will be turning her crown over to the new winner on Saturday, June 21.

MANSFIELD - Miss Maple City 2008 Heather Wells,of Warren, Ohio and a student at Youngstown State University, will represent Norwalk and Huron County at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.

 Roberta Camp, Miss Maple City 2007 and Miss Ohio 2007, will be turning her crown over to the new winner on Saturday, June 21.

The contestants will arrive in Mansfield today from all over the state vying for the Miss Ohio 2008-2009 title and the right to represent Ohio at the Miss America Pageant.

The preliminaries are June 18,19 and 20. The finals will be Saturday June 21.

The Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen Pageant will be Tuesday June 17.

Wells will compete Wednesday night in talent, Thursday night in swimsuit and Friday night in evening wear. Interviews will be Tuesday.

Karen Opper, daughter of Larry and Kasey Opper of Norwalk, is one of the Miss Ohio Dancers and will be performing all of the preliminary nights and also on for the finals.

Friday the contestants will be at the Miss Ohio Festival in downtown Mansfield for introductions and autographs from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Saturday they will be at the Richland Mall from 10 a.m. to noon. They will enter on a red carpet and introduce themselves to the public, sign autographs and participate in a fashion show modeling outfits from stores in the mall.

The Miss Ohio Grand Parade steps off at 2 p.m. Sunday and goes through downtown Mansfield.

On Monday the contestants will waitress at Applebee's on Lexington-Springmill Rd. in Ontario and Applebee's on Stander Rd. (at I-71 & SR 13) from 5 to 7 p.m. Wells will be at the Lexington-Springmill Rd. site.

The three nights of preliminary competition begin at 7:30 p.m. and the finals on Saturday night begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets for preliminary nights are $20 for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night and $40 for Saturday night or $85 for all four nights.  Tickets can also be purchased for the Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen Pageant on Tuesday night for $20 or all five nights for $100.   Highlights from every night of the competition will be shown on the Ohio News Network, cable channel 119 in Norwalk. From Wednesday through Thursday, the highlights will be broadcast the next night from 10 to 11:30 p.m. Friday's highlights be be aired on Saturday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

  Saturday's finals will be broadcast live from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
