Trip down Huron River well worth the effort

My friend of many years, Dr. Andrew Latham, and I took a canoe trip down the Huron River-West Branch from Monroeville to Lover's Lane Bridge. I don't think many people realize how beautiful the river is. We both grew up in Monroeville and then went to Ohio State where we were in the same fraternity. Andy graduated form MHS in 1962 and I graduated in 1964. He went on to become a physician and I had a career in the Air Force as a pilot and later in education. Neither of us had ever canoed down the river. We both moved away from Ohio after graduation and just now are returning to the area.

The trip took 3 1/2 to 4 hours. We stopped at the waterfalls and then for lunch. The trip from Monroeville to Blue Bridge took 2 1/2 hours. We were both surprised at the distance to Blue Bridge. It took another hour to go to Lover's Lane Bridge.

I think the waterfalls is as pretty as any small falls I have seen anywhere.
