Area road closings, delays announced

Projects in Huron County and Erie County continue.

Here is the ODOT District 3 construction report for the week of Sept. 1:

ASHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42 & State Route 60
US 42, between US Route 250 and the village of West Salem, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a smooth seal pavement project. The project also includes SR 60 south of US Route 30. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in June 2015.

State Route 302/State Route 511 - ***UPDATE***
The intersection of State Route 511 and State Route 302 west is closed for work to improve drainage at the intersection. The detour route for SR 511 northbound motorists is SR 511 to US Route 250, west on US 250 to State Route 60, north on SR 60 to US Route 224, east on US 224 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists.  The detour route for SR 302 eastbound motorists is SR 302 to US 250, east on US 250 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to SR 302, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen September 5, 2014.

Township Road 63
Township Road 63, between US Route 250 and Township Road 1300 in Perry Township, is closed for a bridge replacement project. Detour will be posted. The road is expected to reopen October 9, 2014.

CRAWFORD COUNTY
US Route 30
US 30, between the County Road 330 interchange and West Fourth Street interchange in Richland County, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all time in each direction. The project is expected to be complete in October 2014.

State Route 61/State Route 309
SR 61/SR 309 (Portland Way South) from Harding Way to Grove Avenue in the City of Galion is closed for southbound traffic as part of the rehabilitation and widening project. Northbound traffic is reduced to a one-way street. Traffic use Harding Way, State Route 19 and State Route 288 as alternate routes. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014.

·         State Route 598, just north of State Route 19 in the City of Galion, is closed for bridge reconstruction as part of this project.  The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to State Route 19, west on SR 19 to State Route 602, north on SR 602 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen November 17, 2014.    

State Route 598
SR 598, just north of State Route 96 in Vernon Township, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to SR 96, east on SR 96 to State Route 39, west on SR 39 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-October 2014.

ERIE COUNTY
State Route 2
SR 2, from the Edison Bay Bridge to the State Route 269 interchange, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction during the day for work as part of a resurfacing project. One lane will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in June 2015.

State Route 4
SR 4, from just north of the Huron County line to Township Road 97, is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge repair project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in October 2014.

US Route 6 - ***NEW***
US 6, just west of State Route 269 in Margaretta Township, will close on Tuesday, September 2, for a culvert replacement project. The detour route for westbound motorists is US 6 to SR 269, south on SR 269 to State Route 1010, south on SR 101 to State Route 412, west on SR 412 to State Route 510, north on SR 510 to US 6, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 2, 2014.

State Route 60 - ***NEW***
SR 60, between the City of Vermilion and the Huron/Erie County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Tuesday, September 2, for work as part of a smooth seal pavement project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The work is expected to be complete by June 2015.

HURON COUNTY
US Route 20
US 20, between the village of Monroeville and City of Bellevue, is reduced to one lane of traffic for work as part of a smooth seal pavement repair project. One lane of traffic is maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be complete in late September 2014.

State Route 103 & State Route 99
SR 103, from SR 61 to the Crawford County line, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. The project also includes SR 99, from US Route 224 to Townline Road. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October 2014.

LORAIN COUNTY
State Route 57
SR 57, between the City of Elyria’s northern corporation limit to East 36th Street in the City of Lorain, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014.

State Route 57
SR 57, between Interstate 90 and the Ohio Turnpike, is shifted on to the outside travel lanes as part of a major corridor improvement project in the City of Elyria. Two lanes of traffic are maintained in each direction along SR 57.  SR 57, between I-90 and Beechwood Drive, is also shifted to the outside travel lanes for work as part of this project. The SR 57 entrance ramp to I-90 west is reduced to one lane of traffic for work as part of this project. Motorists should expect delays in this area. Crews are also working on various intersections around the project area. The project is expected to be complete in August 2016.

State Route 57 - ***NEW***
SR 57, one-half-mile south of State Route 303 in Grafton Township, will close Tuesday, September 2 for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 57 to SR 303, east on SR 303 to State Route 252, south on SR 252 to SR 57, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen October 1, 2014.

State Route 58/State Route 511 - ***UPDATE***
SR 58 and SR 511 throughout the City of Oberlin has intermittent lane restrictions for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in September 2014.

Interstate 90 & State Route 611
I-90, at its interchange with SR 611 (mile marker 151) in the City of Avon, is restricted to two narrowed lanes of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge rehabilitation project. SR 611 is also restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra time as they travel this area during the construction of this project, and are encouraged to find alternative routes around the project if possible. The project is scheduled to be complete in June 2015.

Interstate 480
I-480, along the north side of the westbound entrance ramp to the Ohio Turnpike, has shoulder closures as part of a noise wall installation project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in late August 2014.

State Route 511 - ***NEW***
SR 511, at the southern corporation limit of the village of Rochester, is closed for pavement repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to State Route 162, east on SR 162 to State Route 58, north on SR 58 to State Route 18, west on SR 18 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. At this time, there is no expected completion date is available.

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, one-half-mile north of State Route 606 in Hinckley Township, is closed as part of a slide repair and culvert replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 3 to SR 606, northeast on SR 606 to State Route 303, west on SR 303, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-September 2014.

State Route 3/US Route 42 - ***UPDATE***
During the week of September 1, work on the US 42/SR 3 resurfacing project will continue. Throughout the day, work will concentrate on US 42 between Huntington Road and the southern city limits from 9am to 9pm. From 9pm each night to 6am the following morning, work will continue in the square in the City of Medina. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October 2014.

·         US 42/SR 3, just south of Smith Road in the City of Medina, will remain closed through the morning of Saturday, August 30 for railroad repair work. Detour is posted.

State Route 18
SR 18, between Windfall Road and Nettleton Road (near the I-71 interchange), is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a smooth seal pavement project. All work on this project will be performed during the evening hours from 7:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. the following morning. The project is expected to be complete by November 2014.

Remsen Road
Remsen Rd, at its bridge over Interstate 71, is closed for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists are encouraged to use Weymouth Road, Ledge Road and Ridge Road as alternates around the closure. The road is expected to be closed through mid-September, 2014.

Sleepy Hollow Road
Sleepy Hollow Road, at its bridge over Interstate 71 in Brunswick Township, is closed for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists are encouraged to use US Route 42, State Route 303 and County Road 17 around the closure. The road is expected to be closed through October, 2014.

RICHLAND COUNTY
State Route 13
SR 13, one-quarter-mile south of US 30 in the City of Mansfield, is closed for a bridge repair project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 13 to East 5th Street, east on East 5th Street to Newman Street, north on Newman Street to East Longview Avenue, west on East Longview Avenue to SR 13, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in October 2014.

US Route 30 & Reed Road - ***UPDATE***
US 30 westbound, at its interchange with Reed Road, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. The entrance and exit ramps with Reed Road and US 30 west are now open. This work is part of a bridge repair project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2014.

State Route 603 - ***NEW***
SR 603, just north of Faulk Road in Weller Township, will close Wednesday, September 3 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 603 to State Route 96, east on SR 96 to Claremont Avenue, south on Claremont Avenue to US Route 42, south on US 42 to SR 603, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on October 18, 2014.

Pleasant Valley Road - ***UPDATE***
County Road 303 (Pleasant Valley Road), between Washington-South Road and Pulver Road in Washington Township, which was originally scheduled to close August 25, has been postponed. When a new date has been set for the closure as part of a bridge replacement project, it will be announced.
