A trooper with the state Highway Patrol found a loaded handgun in an overturned truck which reportedly was driven by an intoxicated man.
The blood-alcohol content level on a breath test by Justin R. Hankins, 32, of Diana, Texas, was .137, according to the Norwalk post. The legal limit for drivers in Ohio is .08.
Hankins has a prior driving-under-the-influence conviction in 2010 from Texas, the patrol reported.
Trooper Sarah Frey found a white, 2011 Ford F-250 pickup truck on its roof on Ohio 162 in Fairfield Township at 12:46 a.m. Friday.
During a towing-related inventory of the truck, Trooper Dustin Hamilton found a loaded handgun by the driver's side window, the patrol reported. Clark Bros. Garage towed the vehicle from the scene with disabling damage.
Troopers determined Hankins was eastbound on Ohio 162 when he went off the right side of the road, where he hit a culvert and utility pole. The truck overturned and stopped on its roof.
Hankins was charged with DUI, failure to control and possession of a loaded firearm.
