A former Willard woman was fined $250 as part of her community control sanctions Wednesday.

Arielle A. Aldrich, 24, most recently of Columbus, will be supervised at a high level during her three years of probation. She must continue to be employed and undergo substance abuse treatment. The defendant has been attending treatment twice a week. She also must reimburse the Huron County Sheriff's Office for the cost of drug testing.

Aldrich's driver's license was suspended for six months, but Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway granted her driving privileges for work, treatment and probation office appointments. The judge also said her probation supervision would be transferred as soon as possible to Indiana, where she will be moving.

"The defendant is not prison eligible," Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said.

Aldrich, who earlier was in the Huron County Jail for eight days, was given a 90-day jail sentence, which her probation officer has the discretion of when to have her serve it. The officer also could ask the court to waive it if the defendant does well on probation.

"My client has no criminal history ... (and) no juvenile history," defense attorney Reese Wineman said.

On March 10, Aldrich pleaded guilty to trafficking in heroin. The Huron County Sheriff's Office coordinated the Oct. 16 controlled drug buy. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed one count each of possession of heroin and possession of cocaine.

The Huron County drug task force arrested Aldrich with then-Willard residents Emery R. Slone, 30, and Jeremy D. Robinson, 23, after a buy-bust on Walton Avenue.

"Officers proceeded to (Aldrich's then) Myrtle Avenue residence and located Jeremy Robinson at the residence. Officers then searched the residence and found numerous syringes and other drug paraphernalia," Detective Sgt. Josh Querin said soon after the arrests.

On May 29, Conway granted Robinson, now of Columbus, intervention in lieu of conviction. That means if he doesn't violate his probation, he won't have a conviction on his record. Robinson is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine.

However, according to court records, authorities issued a warrant for Robinson's arrest Aug. 21 in connection with absconding supervision.

Slone pleaded guilty June 24 to tampering with evidence. He immediately was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Can someone explain how Community Control ISN'T a misnomer? How is the COMMUNITY involved in keeping her "under control"? LOCAL control, as in a local Probation Officer, I can understand, and Community Based Corrections (local jail of some kind), I even get, but the phrase Community Control is just a bit too much to swallow. Especially when a failure by the "controlled" then becomes a failure of the "community". The COMMUNITY pays either way, but never gets credit or thanks for any successes.

Conway is a joke. She will be back in jail for violating her probation because she cant stay clean and only thinks about herself. Right along with her loser co defendant that is worthless also. Junkie scum bags.

so, sell drugs, get probation. Tampering with evidence, go straight to jail for 18 months? Sounds backwards. Tampering with evidence will not kill someone, the drugs will.

But on to the story, she had drugs and used needles laying in front of her 1 year old child. And Jeremy is just worthless like his father dale. He has had a lot of people try to help him, put him in prison. Be the best thing for his kid. To never meet his worthless father.
