A Norwalk woman charged with stealing drugs entered a "not guilty" plea to the fourth-degree felony Monday.

Misty R. Morgan, 31, of 8 Garden St., has a Nov. 20 trial date in Huron County Common Pleas Court. She is charged with theft of drugs in connection with a June 24 incident. If convicted, she faces six to 18 months behind bars. Morgan isn't eligible for a prison term because she doesn't have a prior felony conviction.

Morgan earlier posted a $5,000 bond with a 10-percent provision. Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Daivia Kasper said the state originally issued a summons, but they couldn't find Morgan at the address she gave, so authorities issued a warrant for her arrest. According to court documents, Morgan isn't allowed to be at her former West League Street residence.

The court assigned Paul Dolce to represent Morgan since there is undisclosed conflict of interest with the Huron County Public Defender's Office, which represented her when the case went through Norwalk Municipal Court.

After Monday's hearing, Morgan was released on a personal recognizance bond. That means she signed a court document in which she promised to appear for subsequent hearings and didn't have to pay any money. Morgan is subject to random drug screens.

I think it's more of a cocky smirk than looking high.

...yes, exactly ...its a Mona Lisa smirk...

An OR bond and a conflict of interest with the Public Defenders office? Either she doesn't show up or we all know it will get a plea deal.

Like^ she will get out of it some way.

It's about time. She has been caught several different times, only given the option to tell on someone else.her brother is another piece of crap. Why keep them on payroll if they themselves keep getting busted to? Seth fry use to give her candy for cottonmouth in the backseat of his cruser.

I was unaware that a plea could be "innocent" like the headline states.

So was it not a felony when she got caught stealing all that money from her work last year? They said she has no prior convictions.

So it was thousands of dollars but not a felony??????

That's what I'm trying to say, these people get out of all their stuff if they tell on everyone else. The cops pay them money to snitch, then they go some place else to get their dope. And next week tell on that person. The police feed their habit to keep them hooked on the dope until they are done with them . It's crazy how norwalk pd can get away with this.. it is sad...

itsoknow67

If they would just put these people in jail. Let them detox, then they would have better chances of making it. But that's not what they want. They want people to stay hooked on the stuff so they can have them do the job that they can't do. Yes she stole thousands of dallors the article reads. What happen? She still has to be on probation at least.

It's disgusting! The courts, the drug addicts, all of it makes me sick!

I was wondering how long it would be until the Monday Lawyers complained about pleading innocent instead of not guilty. I think the NR does that to see who will come out of the cracks to complain about it. Usually the same ones. let it rest. We all know it's not guilty, not a plead of innocence.
