Despite rain the first two days of the Huron County Fair, board officials said it was another great event with an excellent turn-out.
Barney Bacon, one of the fair board directors, said the great weather the rest of the week was a factor in the increased attendance.
"I think once you get past Monday (Aug. 11) and Tuesday, it was great weather. We had mid-70s every day. It was beautiful," he said.
On Saturday, there were 9,742 attendees. That's slightly down to the 2013 figure of 9,931.
"Last year was the best year at the gate in a long, long time and we were $200 ahead of that this year," said Bob Morgan, fair board president, who saw a general increase at the gate each day after Tuesday.
Overall, 48,729 people at the fair this year -- an increase from the 46,668 in 2013.
