A Liberty Twp. baby remains hospitalized today following a near drowning Sunday morning at a residence in the 400 block of Sanibel Lane residence, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

A 1-year-old fell head first into a large bucket of water at about 11:20 a.m. while her mother, Riddhi Patel, 33, was tending to another child, detectives said.

The young child walked into the bathroom by herself and was found by her mother face down in the container of water, according to the preliminary investigation.

Investigators said the mother had been in another room for approximately 4 or 5 minutes before she found the infant. The mother called 911 and followed CPR instruction. The infant was revived but had shallow breathing and was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

The child is in stable condition. The case remains under investigation.
