The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 1:18 a.m. Sunday on Ohio 105 near milepost 8 in Ottawa County's Harris Township.

Austin M. Limpf, 18, of Curtice, Ohio, told troopers he was driving a 1995 GMC Yukon west on Ohio 105 when he fell asleep and the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Limpf overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road, which led to the vehicle overturning several times and ultimately ejecting the front seat passenger — 14-year-old Miranda Marie Cleveland — before coming to final rest on its wheels.

Limpf sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bay Park Hospital by Elmore/Harris EMS where he was treated and released. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The state route was closed for about four hours during the investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, the Elmore Police Department, Elmore/Harris fire and EMS, the Ottawa County Coroner’s Office and Bill’s Towing.
