A 10-year-old girl hid under a counter while a gunman and an accomplice robbed a Kenmore area pizza shop.

No one inside Talamo’s pizza on Kenmore Boulevard was injured.

The robbers entered the store about 10 p.m. Friday and confronted a worker, 30. The man told police the robber came inside, pointed a gun and demanded money. One worker fled.

The girl was inside waiting to pickup an order and her mother was outside in a car when the robbery unfolded. The child said she hid under the counter until the robbery ended. The child was upset, but otherwise not harmed, police said.

The robbers could not open the cash register and instead robbed the workers, police said.

The male worker said he gave the robber his deceased father’s wallet and a cell phone. Another worker, a man, 51, was robbed of $81. The robbers have not been identified.

What kind of lazy parent sends a 10 year old into a pizza shop or any kind of shop or store by themselves especially at 10pm? Unless this parent has a disability that prevented them from going into the pizza shop, they should be arrested for neglect.

Well in our town....if you are parked outside the pizza joint you are about 20 ft away. If you are unlucky enough to not get the first spot you are about 28 ft away. You can see into the store at all angles. Alot of people do it. Bad judgement maybe, but I doubt neglect.

Neglect? No. Bad Judgement? As an after-thought, maybe. At ten years old, kids are trusted to walk across town or ride their bikes to a friend's house out of their neighborhood. They may be able to meet friends at the Rec unsupervised. They are learning to handle money and handle some business transactions. I don't believe this parent expected any problems, and won't indict them for what was not the parent's or the child's fault. This was an unusual circumstance. The child was smart enough to hide until it was over, so some good teaching went on ahead of time. Also, the parent TOOK the child to the shop, not sent them alone. If the parent was THAT lazy, they would have just gotten delivery. With the limited information here, I don't think we can fairly claim bad parenting here for the ten year old's mother. For the robbers, maybe, but not this family. I agree it is unfortunate, but it is a part of life that must be managed, and this child (and her mother) just got a lifetime of experience.

According to the Cleveland news reports the 10 year old girl went in the pizza shop WITH her Dad and he is the one who 'hid' her under the counter. They interviewed both her and her Dad yesterday but are keeping their identity private until the suspects are caught. :)

Cool. Thanks for the update. There usually is much more to a story!

It's too bad she wasn't carrying a canceled weapon.
