City and county employees will have several face-offs this week on the golf course, the volleyball court and on the hot seat in an "Are Your Smarter Than a Sixth Grader" competition.

The competitions are all in fun and will be accompanied by several meals as part of Public Service Recognition Week.

County Commissioners Ralph Fegley, Mike Adelman and Gary Bauer joined Mayor Sue Lesch and several other public officials and employees at the county courthouse this morning for public proclamations and to kick off a week of thank-yous for public employees.

The commissioners will be behind the grill for three events and Adelman promised he would personally taste-test samples of all items to make sure they were tasty. Many departments at both levels are also holding pot-luck dinners during the week.

The officials said the meals and events both bring city and county employees together and the games and competitions provide some fun and stress-relief.
