MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A bus carrying about 45 Shelby high school band students was involved in a head-on collision around 6 p.m. Sunday about 20 miles east of Morgantown, W.Va.

High school Principal John Gies told the Mansfield News Journal one student sustained minor injuries to his elbow and was taken to the hospital, but all other students were fine.

Superintendent Bryan Neff said the band was on its way home from a weekend trip to Washington, D.C.

Gies said the one remaining Shelby bus shuttled the two loads of students to a Bruceton Mills volunteer fire station to wait to be picked up by another bus.

Students were supposed to arrive home around 10 p.m. Sunday, but Gies said the crash will delay them into the early morning hours.
