Uptown Norwalk could be the center of the artistic universe Friday.

Imagine Norwalk, which is a district-wide gathering featuring music, art, unique retail and distinct dining, all against the backdrop of historic downtown Norwalk, returns with an action-packed lineup.

"Start on East Main Street and follow the sun west as the evening progresses," said Chris Castle, owner of Dirtsandwich Music Company.

Castle reflected a moment on the first three Imagine Norwalk events, which took place June 13 and 27 and July 11.

"It's great to see all the uptown businesses working together," he said. "Norwalk can be whatever we want it to be."

Castle released a tentative schedule for Friday:

4 p.m. -- Open job recruit with Spherion at Dirtsandwich.

4:30 p.m. -- Chase Castle at Northern Ohio Antique Mall.

5 p.m. -- Tommy Christian at When Pigs Fly.

5:30 p.m. -- The Smiths at Gabby Road Studio.

6 p.m. -- Cruise in at the Main Street Barber Shop.

7:30 p.m. -- Jerimae Yoder at Sheri's Coffee House.

8 p.m. -- Kids' kite decorating at Suhr Family Park.

8 p.m. -- Neo-Funk at Hester Street.

8:30 p.m. -- Open poetry hour at Dirtsandwich.

9 p.m. -- Movie in the park at Suhr Family Park.

9:30 p.m. -- The Songs of Chuck Berry at Dirtsandwich.

9:30 p.m. -- Comedy night at the Maple City Tavern.

10 p.m. -- Great Grandpa Beebe at the Office Bar.

10:30 p.m. -- Waves, Tommy Christian and A Tandem Blue at Rupp's Place.

Other happenings include art by Danielle Lopez, Dave Ruddock, Mark Fisher, Daniel Horne and the North Coast Cancer Foundation.

The Christmas in July poker run will take place at the Maple City Tavern.

Vintage clothing by recycled.stylez will be available, as will custom-braided jewelry by Matthew P. Roth.

Oils and incense by the Fragrance Buffet will be available, too.

Castle's ultimate goal is to take the "imagine" out of Imagine Norwalk.

"This will become the reality," he said.

Castle is excited about the classic car cruise-in this Friday at the Main Street Barber Shop and the BBG at the Norwalk Theatre.

"You won't want to miss that," he said.

The movie in the park is sponsored by Junior Explorers.

Kites and markers will be provided by Main Street Norwalk, while the popcorn station is compliments of the Norwalk Area United Fund.

"This Friday shouldn't be see as a kids' version of Imagine Norwalk, but more an outlet for the kids in us all," Castle said.

Castle is hoping for an appearance from the Hester Street bike club. Bike club members weren't able to attend the July 11 event.

"Those boys are unpredictable," he said.

Congratulations to Mr Castle and the other musicians/contributors in finding the beauty in Norwalk instead of the negative. I'm so happy to see this and to promote our local businesses and i'm POSITIVE i'm not the only one that feels this way. Big round of applause goes out to you all!!!!

Is ALL of this entertainment OUTSIDE of the downtown business or is it going to be limited to who can fit inside the building? I'm hoping it's all in the streets for all to enjoy.
