The Elyria post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that took place at 2:02 a.m. Saturday in Lorain County's Grafton Township.

Corrine L. Reid, 25, of Medina, was driving a black 2002 Jeep Liberty south on Cowley Road when she drove off the left side of the road and then re-entered it, troopers said. She then lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the right side and struck a ditch, causing it to overturn.

As the vehicle overturned, Reid was ejected from the vehicle, trooper said. The vehicle struck a utility pole and several trees before coming to a rest on its top.

Reid was transported from the scene by Grafton Township Fire Department to University Hospital Elyria, where she died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.

Speed, alcohol and lack of seat belt usage are considered factors in the crash, troopers said. Reed was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.
