The State Board of Education revoked the license of a former Columbus City Schools elementary-school teacher yesterday based on his public-indecency conviction last year.

David A. Weber, 48, of Lancaster, had been accused of trying to coerce a stranger to perform a sex act on him in a city park.

The state board voted 17-0 to revoke his teaching licenses for conduct unbecoming an educator.

Police charged Weber with a misdemeanor count of indecency in April 2013 after police videotaped him propositioning an undercover officer for sex during a sting operation to halt sex acts in Helsel Park on the Far East Side, according to a police report.

Weber approached Columbus police detective Jeffrey Ackley, who was standing in the woods around 12:45 p.m. Weber began to rub his own genitals, then appeared to try to physically coerce Ackley into performing oral sex on him, the report said.

Ackley arrested Weber, who was cooperative and released on a summons. He also was banned from all city of Columbus parks.

Weber was convicted by a Franklin County Municipal Court jury on Oct. 8. He paid a $100 fine and received a 60-day suspended jail term. Weber resigned from his district teaching job on Nov. 26. He had been reassigned to a non-teaching job at the district’s Food Service Production facility days earlier.

Records show that his last teaching position was for third grade at Innis Elementary on the North Side. He was paid about $70,800 a year. He had been with the district since 1999.

Neither Weber nor his attorney could be reached for comment.

truckin

Is that something new?
Men have always tried to coerce women into engaging in sex acts.
When did a simple yes or no have to turn into charges???

...well, truckin, I'm ofthe opinion it was the lewd behavior followed by a second 'hit' on the detective that clinched it...
...yup ...I think 'clinching it' sums it up...
