An area motorist was cited in connection with colliding with a man on a personal mobility scooter Monday.

North Central EMS transported the victim, Roberto Contreras, 60, of 196 W. Main St., to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. The accident happened at 2:04 p.m. Monday at the intersection of East Main Street and Benedict Avenue.

The driver of a 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck, Thomas L. Kay, 48, of Risingsun, was charged with failure to yield.

Before the collision, Kay was stopped westbound on East Main. Norwalk police said when the red light on Benedict turned green, he turned left onto Benedict, failed to see Contreras, who was crossing eastbound at the intersection on his scooter and hit the man's scooter.
