Ohio University Police have given the all-clear after investigating the report of a possible shooting at Gamertsfelder Hall on the Athens Campus Tuesday.

Police said a search did not find evidence of shooting in Gamertsfelder Hall, and the search was expanded to all of East Green, with police asking that the area be evacuated.

That search was conducted and no evidence of a shooting was found nor was any on-going threat, university officials said.

East Green has been reopened for normal use.

Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis released the following statement:

Officers were immediately dispatched to Gamertsfelder Hall. A thorough search of Gamertsfelder Hall and the East Green found no evidence of a shooting or on-going threat. It was determined by our first-responders that there is no threat to the safety of our university or Athens community. The East Green has been reopened for normal use.

In response to the notification, we immediately implemented our established safety and communication protocols through OUPD and the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).
