The Bellevue Fire Department has determined a sparkler started a ditch fire Sunday.

"Someone noticed a ditch on fire smoldering," firefighter Brian Ackerman said.

Twelve firefighters responded to the 400 block of Brinker Street, where the fire covered about 150 feet. The crew was dispatched about 4:30 p.m.

"We put it out with water. No damage," Ackerman said.

Firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
