State OKs assistance for company that would come to Norwalk, create 230 jobs

14 companies expected to invest $131 million, impacting 4,750 jobs in Ohio

Today Gov. John R. Kasich announced the approval of assistance for fourteen projects set to create 2,298 jobs and retain 2,452 jobs statewide. One of the projects involves Norwalk.

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners.

Collectively, the projects are expected to result in $118.4 million in new payroll, and spur more than $131.4 million in investment across Ohio.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

One Source Technology LLC dba Asurint (Location TBD) expects to create 70 full-time positions, generating $3.7 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $5.1 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project at a to-be-determined location. One Source Technology uses proprietary technology to perform comprehensive employee background checks for employers, and verifies employee information. The TCA approved a 45-percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

CENTRAL

ADS Alliance Data Systems, Inc., City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 700 full-time positions, generating $52.5 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $124.4 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Alliance Data creates and provides marketing tools for businesses. The TCA approved a 70 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.

Pier 1 Imports (U.S.), Inc., City of Grove City (Franklin Co.) expects to create 165 full-time positions, generating $5 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $4.3 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Grove City (Franklin Co.). Pier 1 Imports sells furniture, decorative home furnishings, dining and kitchen goods, candles, gifts and other specialty items for the home. The TCA approved a 55-percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

The Crimson Cup, Inc., City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 20 full-time positions, generating $1.1 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $1 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Crimson Cup is a coffee and tea importer, roaster, distributor as well as consultant to independent coffee shops nationally. The TCA approved a 40-percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Universal Fabricating and Construction Services, Inc., City of Columbus (Franklin Co.) expects to create 30 full-time positions, generating $1.2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $2.4 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Columbus (Franklin Co.). Universal Fabricating and Construction Services offers metal fabrications, steel processing services, mechanical repairs and on-site construction services. The TCA approved a 40-percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

WESTERN

Exel, Inc. and Quality Associates, Inc., City of Union (Montgomery Co.) expects to create 801 full-time positions, generating $31.8 million in annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project location in the City of Union (Montgomery County). This P&G distribution center is one of six centers around the U.S. The TCA approved a 70%, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Lunarline, Inc., City of Kettering (Montgomery Co.) expects to create 15 full-time positions, generating $1 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $37,500 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s new location project in the City of Kettering (Montgomery Co.). Lunarline is a cyber-security and privacy provider to the US Federal Government, as well as private industry. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

SOUTHWEST

Empower MediaMarketing, Inc., City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 40 full-time positions, generating $2.8 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $9.3 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.). Empower is an independent media agency that plans, buys, creates and proves impact of media.  The TCA approved a 45 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Global Cloud, LTD, City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 22 full-time positions, generating $1.2 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $1.9 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.). Global Cloud specializes in digital brand translation and online brand management. The TCA approved a 40 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Powerhouse Factories, LLC, City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) expects to create 30 full-time positions, generating $2.1 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $2.1 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.). Powerhouse is a creative marketing services company specializing in social media, website design, grassroots marketing strategies and brand design. The TCA approved a 40 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NORTHEAST

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Shelby LLC, City of Shelby (Richland Co.) expects to create 45 full-time positions, generating $1.9 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $44.6 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Shelby (Richland Co.). ArcelorMittal manufactures welded and seamless precision tubes for the fluid power, automotive, construction equipment, farm machinery, oil and gas tooling and service center markets. The TCA approved a 40 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Borgers USA Corporation, City of Norwalk (Huron Co.) expects to create 230 full-time positions, generating $8.3 in additional annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location project in the City of Norwalk (Huron Co.). Borgers develops and produces acoustically efficient components for automobiles. The TCA approved a 55 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Lighthouse Insurance Group LLC, City of Independence (Cuyahoga Co.) expects to create 75 full-time positions, generating $3.4 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $1.9 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in the City of Independence (Cuyahoga Co.). Lighthouse Group is a health insurance broker that focuses on call center expertise, software development and model forecasting. The TCA approved a 40-percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.

SOUTHEAST

Consolidated Metco, Inc., City of Chillicothe (Ross Co.) expects to create 55 full-time positions, generating $2.3 million in additional annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location project in the City of Chillicothe (Ross Co.). Consolidated Metco provides lightweight, high performance injection molded compartment products to truck manufacturers. The TCA approved a 45 percent, five-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
