Area road closings, delays announced

Work to begin on new project in Huron County; update on Fitchville bridge announced.

Here is the ODOT District 3 construction report for the Week of June 23:

ASHLAND COUNTY
State Route 58 - ***UPDATE***
SR 58, between Township Road 673 and County Road 601, is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 58 to State Route 302; east on SR 302 to State Route 89; north on SR 89 to SR 58; and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen July 3, 2014.

State Route 603
SR 603, from Franklin Church Road in Richland County to the State Route 39, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete on August 31, 2014.

·         SR 603 is reduced to one lane of traffic just north of the Ashland railway tracks in Milton Township for bridge repairs. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with a temporary traffic signal through early August.

CRAWFORD COUNTY
State Route 61/State Route 309
SR 61/SR 309 (Portland Way South) from Harding Way to Grove Avenue in the City of Galion is closed for southbound traffic as part of the rehabilitation and widening project. Northbound traffic is reduced to a one-way street. Traffic use Harding Way, State Route 18 and State Route 288 as alternate routes. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014.

State Route 598 - ***NEW***
SR 598, at several locations between New Haven Road and State Route 98, will close Monday, June 23 for the replacement of multiple culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to State Route 39, west on SR 39 to SR 98, north on SR 98 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 11, 2014.

ERIE COUNTY
State Route 13 - ***UPDATE***
SR 13, between US Route 250 and the City of Huron, has intermittent lane restrictions for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic is maintained with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2014. 

State Route 99 - ***UPDATE***
SR 99, from the Huron County line to State Route 4, is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The culvert replacement and structure repair is now complete and a detour is no longer in effect. The project is expected to be complete in August 2014.

US Route 250
US 250, at its intersection with Strub Road in Perkins Township, has intermittent lane closures for work as part of an intersection improvement project. Two lanes of traffic are maintained at all times in each direction on US 250. The project is expected to be complete in November 2014.

·         East Strub Road is closed as part of the intersection improvement project. Access to businesses along Strub Road will be maintained at all times; however, customers will need to access from Columbus Avenue. No through traffic will be permitted. The road will be closed through mid-July 2014.

HURON COUNTY
State Route 60 - ***NEW***
SR 60, one-half-mile south of Lincoln Road in Wakeman Township, will close Monday, June 23 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 60 to US Route 20, west on US 20 to State Route 601, north on SR 601 to State Route 61, north on SR 61 to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to SR 60, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road will reopen on June 27, 2014.

State Route 162
SR 162, from US Route 250 to the Lorain County line (excluding the portion within the village of New London), has intermittent lane closures as part of a chip seal project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July 2014.

US Route 250 - ***UPDATE***
US 250, at its overlap with State Route 162 in Fitchville Township, is closed for a bridge replacement project over the Vermilion River. Detours for US 250 and SR 162 are posted. Due to weather delays, the road is expected to reopen on July 22, 2014.

US Route 250
US 250, from Lais Road to South Norwalk Road in the City of Norwalk, is restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra time as they travel this area during the construction of this project, and are encouraged to find alternative routes around the project if possible. The project is expected to be complete at the end of August 2014.

LORAIN COUNTY
State Route 57 - ***NEW***
SR 57, between Interstate 90 and the Ohio Turnpike, will have intermittent single lane restrictions for tree clearing work as part of a major corridor improvement project. Crews will also begin working on intersections with Leona Street and Tillotson Street along Midway Mall Boulevard beginning June 23. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained along SR 57 at all times. The project is expected to be complete in August 2016.

Interstate 90 & State Route 611 - ***UPDATE***
I-90, at its interchange with SR 611 (mile marker 151) in the City of Avon, is restricted to two narrowed lanes of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge rehabilitation project. SR 611 is also restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra time as they travel this area during the construction of this project, and are encouraged to find alternative routes around the project if possible. The project is scheduled to be complete in June 2015.

·         I-90 will have night time lane restrictions for bridge work. Beginning Monday, June 23, I-90 will be reduced to one lane of traffic from 8:00 pm through 6:00 am the following morning each night through Friday, June 27. Once this work is complete, the contractor will shift SR 611 traffic in to the next phase of the project; however, one lane will be maintained in each direction with turn lanes at all times. This work remains weather dependent and is subject to change.

State Route 162
SR 162, between the Huron County line and the Medina County line, has intermittent lane closures as part of an upcoming chip seal project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July 2014.

State Route 303
SR 303, one-quarter-mile east of Nickel Plate Diagonal Road in Lagrange Township, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route eastbound motorists is SR 303 to State Route 58, south on SR 58 to State Route 18, east on SR 18 to State Route 301, north on SR 301 to SR 303, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen by June 30, 2014.

State Route 511 - ***UPDATE***
SR 511, just north of Railroad Street in the village of Rochester, will close Monday, June 16 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to State Route 162, east on SR 162 to State Route 58, north on SR 58 to State Route 18, west on SR 18 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on June 25, 2014.

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, one-half-mile north of State Route 606 in Hinckley Township, is closed as part of a slide repair and culvert replacement project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 3 to SR 606, northeast on SR 606 to State Route 303, west on SR 303, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen at the end of August 2014.

State Route 57 –  ***NEW***
SR 57, just south of State Route 162 in Montville Township, will close Monday, June 23 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 57 to SR 162, west on SR 162 to State Route 3, south on SR 3 to Interstate 76, east on I-76 to SR 57, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road will reopen on June 27, 2014.

Interstate 76
I-76, from State Route 57 to the Summit County line, has single lane restrictions for final paving work and cable rail installation within the median as part of the I-76 rehabilitation project. Motorists are advised to use caution in this area and watch for slower moving traffic as it merges in to the open lane. The project will be complete in July 2014.

State Route 162
SR 162, between the Lorain County line and the village of Spencer, has intermittent lane closures for pavement repair work. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July 2014.

State Route 303
SR 303, between West 130th Street and the Summit County line, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times.  The project is expected to be complete in mid-August 2014.

Remsen Road
Remsen Rd, at its bridge over Interstate 71, is closed for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists are encouraged to use Weymouth Road, Ledge Road and Ridge Road as alternates around the closure. The road is expected to be closed through mid-September, 2014.

Sleepy Hollow Road
Sleepy Hollow Road, at its bridge over Interstate 71 in Brunswick Township, is closed for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists are encouraged to use US Route 42, State Route 303 and County Road 17 around the closure. The road is expected to be closed through October, 2014.

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 42
US 42, one-quarter-mile south of Kings Corners Road in Troy Township, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a bridge replacement project. One lane of two-way traffic is being maintained with a temporary traffic signal through August 2014.

State Route 181
SR 181, between the eastern corporation limit of Crestline to State Route 309, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of an upcoming chip seal project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July 2014.

State Route 603
SR 603, from Franklin Church Road to the State Route 39 in Ashland County, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The project is expected to be complete on August 31, 2014.

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 94 - ***UPDATE***
SR 94, from Fox Lake Road to US Route 30A, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. Work in the coming weeks will focus on US 30A in the village of Dalton; however, traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in September 2014.

State Route 226 - ***UPDATE***
SR 226, between the village of Shreve and State Route 3, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2014.

State Route 301 - ***UPDATE***
SR 301, between Interstate 71 and State Route 302, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project will be complete in August 2014.

State Route 604
SR 604, one-half-mile west of Overton Road in Congress Township, is closed as part of a slide repair project. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 604 to State Route 301, north on SR 301 to State Route 539, east on SR 539 to Interstate 71, north on I-71 to State Route 83, south on SR 83 to SR 604, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in early August 2014.
