SANDUSKY - Sandusky State Trooper Eric Wlodarsky, involved in a KKK prank, said he is not a racist, but admitted he was "counseled previously for racial gestures or slurs."

Wlodarsky used a cell phone camera to snap a photo of Trooper Craig Franklin wearing KKK-like garb while both were on duty at the post Jan. 20 just one day before Martin Luther King Day. Wlodarsky then forwarded the photo to Sgt. Jason Demuth of the Norwalk post.

"For me to take a demotion is a huge pay cut," Wlodarsky told the Sandusky Register. "I hold nothing against any race."

He was demoted April 3 from sergeant to trooper. He was transferred to Norwalk, can never be assigned to Sandusky and must attend diversity awareness training. Wlodarsky estimated the pay cut will cost him about $12,000 a year.

Wlodarsky and Franklin were both recommended for termination by Henry Guzman, the state's director of public safety, but remain on the job because of a collective bargaining agreement.

Franklin received a five-day unpaid suspension and was ordered to seek diversity awareness training. Demuth was suspended for one day.

An audio recording from the investigation indicates Wlodarsky was counseled for a November 2006 incident while he was a Mansfield assistant post commander. Another trooper said Wlodarsky failed to respond for back-up on a traffic stop of a car carrying a group of black males and instead delivered Cleveland Browns tickets to an off-duty trooper.

When the on-duty trooper asked Wlodarsky by phone why he didn't respond, Wlodarsky said: "We can't send an officer to back up another every time we stop a carload of niggers. What would the motoring public think?"

During a July 2007 administrative investigation, Wlodarsky admitted making the comment to a dispatcher, but said he didn't use the n-word. The trooper who made the allegations told the Register he has since been fired for untruthfulness.

"He (Wlodarsky) said used the word 'blacks' and is very conscious to use not to use the other word, although he does say it. Sgt. Wlodarsky said there were no witnesses to this conversation," according to the administrative investigation filed by Sgt. Jeffrey P. Bernard.

Wow. Why is this man a law enforcement officer?

KC1979

Serves him right. How could you be so insensitive being that you are an Officer of the Law? Yes, I know that you're job is stressful and you need to joke around about things but that was way over the top.

Awww, poor thing! A whole $12,000? Guess you can't go to Chappelle concerts and watch him on pay-per-view anymore! :(

i had hoped that they would show their picture's in the paper, not just the disputed picture, where you can't see the officers face...

it would be nice to see the faces of these men, who feel that they are so perfect, and consider themselves"all that" that they feel that they are superior to others

it is a shame that they transferred the one guy to the Norwalk post.. i wonder where they get that logic, that to make these guys "respectable" again, move them to a new and unsuspecting area, sounds like they learned some pointers from the Catholic Church, that is exactly what the church does when they have an "out of control" priest on their hands

David Deerest.

Considers themselves "all that"?

Didn't you forget the bag of chips part?

What are you, 13?

i have seen a few of those "lawn jockey's" around town again, in people's front yards!!! i thought that people did away with those a long time ago...the ones that i have seen, have even had the skin portion painted black !!! whats up with that???

David Deerest.

How pathetic.

" I obviously do not know these officers and I certainly do not condone racism in any form and I would also say that this behaviour, especially from a police officer is innapropriate. However couldnt this case seen in a different light.I have always thought that the kkk in their white pointy hoods look a right bunch of pillocks and indeed they are but were not the officers portraying this aspect, ie taking the p*ss out of the stupid looking b*stards in the clan.....I dont know, but it is another way of seeing the officers prank. So which was it, condoning the kkk and racism or taking the p*ss out of them "

it seems to me that they are condoning the kkk. this is not the first time that some of these guys have been involved in racial misconduct, and it now opens up a grey area, where their actions , on their jobs are in question.
suppose the next time these , or any other state patrol officer, stops any car.. you can bet that there will be some sort of "discrimination" principle at hand... the person being stopped could be black, or Asian, female, fat, unattractive, gay, poor, badly dressed, full of tattoos..etc.. there will always be a reason to feel that you are being discriminated against, because it is so much easier, and becoming more acceptable to believe that you aren't being respected, because of your "minority situation" than it is to accept responsibility for your actions...
so, i feel that these guys should be fired... i always that the state patrol , were the pinacle that all law officers were aiming for.. and to hear of this kind of conduct, is unacceptable, and disheartening... i always looked at the state patrol troopers as being above this kind of conduct.. and true professionals.. and to keep these guys in the ranks, only makes all of the other patrolmen, look bad, if not at least, questionable.
the state patrol did learn one thing though, it is obvious that they were paying close attention to the Catholic Church, and how to handle misconduct!!! in the church, if a priest were caught doing an inappropriate action, instead of punishing them, or firing them, they are just transferred to another post.. and that is exactly what the state patrol is doing!!! good job!! grasshopper!!
