Shane E. Klick, 17, of Fremont, was charged with improper passing Thursday after he attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle on Ohio 18 and noticed an oncoming vehicle cresting a hill. Klick went off the left side of the road to avoid a collision, went through a private driveway and hit a tree.

The Milan Police Department reported having Stephen W. Lay, 33, of 79F Cline St., in custody on two warrants Friday. He was charged with failure to pay fines and costs. Lay is serving a 10-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.
