The state Highway Patrol Fremont Post is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 12:30 a.m. today (Sunday) on County Road 65 West of County Road 90 Sandusky County's Washington Township.

A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu was being driven by Deshaun Cash, 27, of Fremont, who was eastbound on CR 65. There were also two passengers in the vehicle — Latoya Minniefield, 33, and Brittany Minniefield, 24, both of Fremont.

Cash drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected and came back onto the road, troopers said. Cash then lost control of the vehicle, slid of the left side of the road and struck a tree. All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

Latoya Minniefield was pronounced dead at the scene.  Cash and Brittany Minniefield were transported from the scene via life flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Cash was in serious condition today, while Brittany Minniefield was listed in fair condition, troopers said.

Troopers said the three were not wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.

Speed and alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, troopers said. Seatbelts were not in use during the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Lindsey Volunteer Fire Department and Willey’s Towing and rescue.
