OAGC spring regional meeting May 2 in Norwalk

May 2 is the date of The Ohio Association of Garden Clubs (OAGC) Region 6 spring regional meeting at First Presbyterian Church, 22 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, with OAGC's Huron County Garden Club Dirty Bloomers hosting. OAGC Region 6 is made up of Ottawa, Seneca, Sandusky, Erie, Huron and Lorain Counties. Garden clubs from the six county area will join for a morning coffee hour, a spring flower show, door prizes, raffles, sales tables of garden related items, plants, books, a catered lunch, plus an excellent speaker, Mary Lee Minor of Bucyrus, who serves as OAGC judge and third vice-president. Minor's topic will be "setting a beautiful table," focusing on appropriate flowers and tableware for every occasion. Gorgeous table settings will be on display. The public flower show, which follows the theme of the day, will include spring bulbs and flowers. The show's artistic division will feature table settings from different clubs throughout the area. The horticulture division is open to all, OAGC members and friends alike, plus youngsters. Young people are invited to enter to compete for ribbons and will be judged separately from adults according to age. Youngster's entries can be sent with attending adults. Educational exhibits and invitational designs complete the show. Flower show entries are to be in place before 9:50 a.m. with judging by accredited OAGC Judge Virginia Sharp of Mansfield, beginning at 10. Rosettes will be won by Best of Show in Artistic and Horticulture for both adults and juniors. Horticulture and artistic ribbons will be awarded for three places and Honorable Mention.
