A former Norwalk woman is on three years of intensive probation for selling drugs to a confidential informant.

Ashley A. Amos, 31, of 235 Fairfield Ave., Bellevue, was ordered Wednesday to spend four to six months in a community-based corrections facility (CBCF), a form of prison which focuses on substance abuse treatment and education.

"Keep up the good attitude. I think you'll do well," Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway told her.

Amos must reimburse the Norwalk Police Department $40 to cover the cost of drug testing. She was fined $250 and had her driver's license suspended for six months.

If she violates the terms of her probation, Amos faces 18 months in prison.

The defendant, in late April, pleaded guilty to trafficking in oxycodone. The conviction is for a May 14 controlled drug buy coordinated by Detective Sgt. Jim Fulton.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed one count of possession of heroin in connection with a Dec. 2 incident. Detective Sgt. Seth Fry has said Amos sold prescription medication while she was under indictment on the heroin case.

"There may be some (drug) residue cases in the pipeline. If that's reality, the state won't prosecute her on those charges," Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said in late April.

On Feb. 25, Amos was one of four suspects arrested in about 6 1/2 hours on drug-related secret indictments. A grand jury issues a secret indictment when authorities believe the suspects might flee the area.
