A Greenwich sex offender who was convicted Tuesday will have to register his address for 25 years. His accomplice and girlfriend has been sentenced recently in a different court.

Lawrence E. Hickman, 19, of 3764 U.S. 224, Lot 26, pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Dina Shenker said the defendant had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl Dec. 21 "after he brought her to his residence after a party."

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed one count of tampering with evidence.

When Hickman is sentenced June 11, he faces six to 18 months behind bars. He also will be classified as a Tier II sex offender, meaning he will have to register his address for 25 years and can't live within 1,000 feet of a school, preschool or daycare center.

Since Hickman was on Norwalk Municipal Court probation at the time of the sex crime, Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway told him he's eligible to be sentenced to prison. It's unclear if the defendant remains on probation.

On Dec. 21, the Huron County Sheriff's Office arrested Hickman at his place of employment, a Milan factory. Detective Sgt. Josh Querin has said the defendant, when interviewed at the station, admitted to having sex with the victim.

Also arrested Dec. 21 was Hickman's girlfriend, a 17-year-old Greenwich girl. She was charged with complicity to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, complicity to tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and underage consumption.

The girlfriend entered denials to the charges Dec. 23 in Huron County Juvenile Court. Prosecutors later amended the fourth-degree felony charge of complicity to unlawful sexual conduct to contributing to the delinquency/unruliness of a minor, a first-degree misdemeanor.

On Friday, she appeared for a disposition hearing. As part of her probation, she must complete 50 hours of volunteer service and serve three additional days in detention. For the rest of the 2013-2014 school, she isn't prohibited to have any association with anyone under the age of 17 without adult supervision, court administrator Chris Mushett said. After the school year, the restriction expands to anyone under the age of 18.

Hickman's accomplice also isn't allowed to have any association with Hickman or the victim and is prohibited from accessing social media. Mushett said the defendant can't access the Internet without adult supervision, isn't allowed to view pornography and is prohibited from consuming alcohol. Judge Timothy Cardwell also ordered the girl to undergo and successfully complete treatment and counseling for sex offenders, mental health and substance abuse.

Deputies started investigating the case after the Ashland County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call at 3:30 a.m. Dec. 21 from a female Huron County resident.

Two detectives and several deputies obtained a search warrant to check on the well-being of residents at Hickman's mobile home. Querin has said deputies found "signs of underage drinking and drug abuse" and while using a follow-up warrant several hours later, authorities recovered "a significant amount of disturbing evidence at the scene that will connect Mr. Hickman directly to the (sex) crime."

Agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene.

Hickman remains out on a $50,000 bond. He is prohibited from having any association with any non-family members under the age 18.

I'd hardly call him a child molester when I can almost guarantee the 14 year old was down. Until her parents found out or until she sobered up and realized what she was doing was wrong. I'm not saying what he did was right, but I am saying that everyone is making him out to be such a terrible person when in reality, he's not that bad. Norwalk Reflector has problems getting stories right anyways. So anyone who believes half the stuff they read on this site is just ignorant or looking for something or someone to b!tch about or have hate towards because they're bored with the same old people in the neighborhood, so they judge people they don't even know.

Let the hate comments and "You're so ignorant, read the past stories" comments begin. GO!

I agree with ya
to all
So let's get this straight..
because Daddy's little princess is not as innocent as he thought, a young man now may just be held back due to severe record on a possible good future employment, which would create a taxpayer? home buyer? family man?
all because a year out of school (a teen) he should have kept his blank in his pants with another TEEN..

so lets crucify a young man on something we all had happen? or wish would have happened? but not all girls kissed and told.. (it's so open nowadays)
make him a ward of the state, 3 squares and a cot, out of jail, can't leave area to seek employment without going through hoops, boredom kicks in with lack of opportunities, slips into possible drug addict, welfare recpt., impregnates multiple woman, causes more unwanted or unable to care for children, and ULTIMATELY the growing need for more government bureaucracy which is what we all need???..

and for what.. to empower more young chickies to never be held accountable for there own actions and reinforce the concept of "it's always someone else's fault"??.

Lieutenant_Shin...

Exactly. Young girls these days aren't nearly as innocent as people think they are. Girls will do ANYTHING to get out of a sticky situation. One minute it's "Oh, let's bang. Sure, I'll drink with you." and the next minute it's "No, I never said yes! I swear he raped me! I had nothing to do with it!" Parents these days don't hold their own kids accountable for sh!t. They always believe the 14 or 15 year old girls alleged "I was raped, feel sorry for me" stories. When in reality, that's almost never the case. She f-cked up. And she wont admit it. Point blank. Mommy and daddy came to her rescue. Just another way America's youth is being corrupted because no one knows how to hold themselves accountable for anything or take on the consequences that come along with their actions.

Mind you, 90% of the people featured in stories on this website got their charges dropped, got into a CBCF or other treatment program, or dropped someone elses name to get themselves out of the hole they dug themselves in.

Again, not making Lawrence out to be an angel or anything, but I strongly feel that there's more to this story that isn't being said.
